biggest Topbox size for PCX

Post by alx123 »

So, when does it start to look ridiculously big on a PCX?
I currently own a 26L givi, but would like to upgrade to a much bigger top box.
26L is too small for my stuff now, esp if im on my way to the gym.
I want to go as big as possible without looking ridiculously unbalance.

I'm planning to get this 45L one but I'm not sure if it still looks okay or way overkill.

So how big are your top boxes guys? Who got the biggest of em all? (we are still talking about top boxes here)

I put a Givi 45 litre box on mine - wanted to hold two helmets. Looks fine.

I ended up getting the Shad SH39 because I thought the styling more closely matched that of the PCX compared to the similar-sized Givi boxes. The Shad SH40 Cargo was a close 2nd only because it's designed to carry extra stuff on top (not as swoopy in the styling, though). Almost everything I've ever carried on the scoot has fit either in the box or under the seat, but I'll admit that there have been a few instances where the top platform of the SH40 Cargo would've come in really handy.

Bigger top cases are awesome but it affects handling. I won't go bigger than 40L. I had a 46 and 55L and sold them both.

I recommend the Givi V40 Monokey. Super light and still sturdy.

just what I needed to hear. Was looking at a few choices yesterday, a lot of really "bang for the buck" givi at 30 and 32L but I was thinking it wasn't enough of an upgrade. Then there's this 39L Kappa. but it is a little odd-looking in my opinion.

There is a really nice Shad 42L but will require me to change my rear rack as well, something I think I should not bother to do.

I'll keep looking

I like the looks of the Shad39 the most. Its modern looking and not shaped like a box which does not fit a PCX at all.

I agree! I haven't seen anyone else's post regarding top boxes and MPG, but I think the rounded shape helps with fuel economy too. I keep my SH39 on all the time and last summer (2017) I saw my best tank ever at 120 mpg.

If anyone's seriously interested in the SH39 with the passenger backrest, consider buying Yamaha's DBY-ACC56-13-14 version. I'm linking the lowest price right now ($153 USD) but several other sellers are offering it for only a $20 more ($173). Why this version? Because you'll get the backrest pad included in the price!

Also, if you're planning on adding the Shad DOB40KL auxiliary brake light, you might consider adding the larger DOB48KL light instead. New holes in the plastic mounting plate are easy to drill, and if you want an extra-secure attachment you only need to drill one extra hole in the metal rack like I did here.

Well, what else could you expect with that much weight in the back? He probably tried to take a corner too fast and lost his balance. After all, the CG is way off with that big of a tail box.

I have a 52L which fits perfect on my bike. The increase to capacity is priceless.
