just bought forza 300

Post by 1chris1 »

hello,
just bought a forza 300 today, 2015 model with 4500miles one owner. full service history but a few marks here and there on the paint work. probably because of the london traffic.
any way, i am a long time biker and also have a 125 honda innova and a bmw r 1150gs.
do you forza guys have any advice or tips on first ownership of a forza? maintenance tips or riding style?
i bought it primarily for my commute to work (33 miles a day). i find my innova is under powered on the longer climbs but other wise excellent. the bmw 1150 gs is over kill for the commute.

regards
chris

The fuel gauge is wrong, use the trip odometer. 180 miles and you are almost empty. The tall screen is better on the highway. 80 mph is top speed. It runs with any oil, use the factory intervals on everything. You are invisible. Rain sucks.

A Forza added to the stable eh? Have miles of smiles with it! :D

On a more serious note I would recommend you check the service history to see if the recall was signed off for the fuel pump and starter relay switch. . .just to play it safe.

Here's a link to the Honda Powersports page to check on recall information. :geek:

I hope you keep it another 3 years and get to almost 200,000km!

Any other bike you want in the near future?

I need to check my lottery ticket.

Wish list. MP3, Gold Wing DCT, NC750X DCT, NM4 DCT, Africa Twin DCT, Honda CRF250 Rally, Yamaha XT250. KTM 250 EXC-F. Yamaha Super Tenere.

I am going to need a bigger garage.

CRF259 Rally is at the top of the list followed by the NM4.

If I won that 1.6 billion Mega I would buy

1. a used Vespa 300 GTS

FLAT out refuse to do what I have done in the past, buy a new 2 or 4 wheel vehicle and suffer the horrid depreciation. Now that I am older and see that jobs are limited due to ageism I know the errors of my past and the dollars that went away and away.

Agree.

Apart from the Vespa bit

My Forza tips after 33,000 or thereabouts miles on one:

Keep the standard screen, bigger ones = buffeting caused by turbulent flow around your head

When you change the rear tyre, always service the rear caliper, change the rear brake pads and silencer connection gasket.
(aftermarket connector and pads much better than Honda oem)
Rear brake very prone to dragging and pad wear excessive as a result.

Put tape over the relevant connectors on the front indicator bulbs to prevent the running light filaments working.

Ignore the fuel gauge

Ditch the standard exhaust clamp and fit a Mikalor stainless one

Remove and grease the centre stand mount pin FREQUENTLY

DO NOT use 20/40 oil, stick with 10w30

Riding tips: as often as you can and shiny side up. :D

If you win 1.6 billion you probably would't give a shite about depreciation on vehicles.

Why disable the running lights?

I found the taller one better for my 5 foot six body.

I had a lot of problems when it was new and now it works fine. Rear pad has 11,366 kilometre and front pad has 69,521 km and both work perfectly.

Put tape over the relevant connectors on the front indicator bulbs to prevent the running light filaments working.

Why remove an extra light that gets you noticed?

Ignore the fuel gauge

100 km no movement, 100 km to showing empty, 100 km till it really is empty depending on how fast you ride.

Reason for disabling running light is that it causes confusion here in the uk where we do not have orange running lights.

300kms leaves about 1 litre left in the tank when the display says 3.5L/100km

Conversion: 185 miles leaves about 1 litre left when the display says 80.7 mpg (miles per UK gallon)

Not common over here. It used to be illegal and was a hassle when driving imported cars from the USA.

Because it's not common people could see orange and think you were turning.

Think about how stupid the average person is and then consider half of them are even more stupid.
