How to uninstall seat on 2018 PCX

Post by Brando »

Can someone help with instructions on how to remove the original seat on a 2018? I am replacing it with a new Seat 7 from BikerzBitz. I don't have my socket wrenches right now; I have to retrieve them from storage. Removing the Phillips screws doesn't remove it from the hinges. BTW, there are only two bolts protruding from underneath the NEW seat. Is this right?

Anyway, while I wait for the rest of my tools, any help is certainly appreciated. This is actually my first mod to the bike since owning it for over a month. Oh, and Michelin City Grips replaced stock tires.

Thanks!

2015 and later seats are not interchangeable with earlier PCX models. I will wait for someone with a older base seat to confirm they are two bolt design. They may have built your custom seat on an older base.... booooooooo

And yes those 4 nuts are how a NEW PCX seat is removed

Wait, you think they sold me a seat for an earlier model? When I bought the Seat 7 from BikerzBits, their website had two choices, 2014-17 and 2018 models. I chose 2018. That's not all. I had email correspondence with them to specifically request my upholstery choice and they confirmed the seat would fit my 2018. This is my first time ordering from them.

US 2018 and Thai 2018 are different... the US is getting the Thai 2018 model as a 2019. I don't know if the seats interchange.

Take about 2 minutes to see if the two bolt will fit the 4 bolt setup. Let us know

Hmmm..... my 2013 model only has 2 bolts, and those don't connect in the same spots the newer ones do.

You will have to connect the hinge to the seat, so it might be best if you take the hinge off of the body and try it in the spot where it would normally bolt on to the seat. Looks to me like you have a different seat from your model year.
Currently own:
Red 2013 Honda PCX150

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires
Headlight assy upgraded to LEDs w/HS5 main bulbs
NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

Yes, I was aware of this and I thought my contact at BikerzBits, Emmet, was too which is why I was very specific when I told him I had a 2018 "U.S. model". He emailed me last night and his response was this, "I was not aware about the USA naming things different. We sell for Thai-made models only.
Kind regards". :?

I'm trying to find out from Emmet if the Seat 7 for the "2014-2017" models have four bolts. If they do, I would think that it should fit my 2018. I don't want to make anymore assumptions though. SIGH. Oh, well. :(

I doubt it, but I will do it this weekend just to be sure. I will report back.

I'm truly sorry you have a seat for a pre-LED PCX. This is what happens as time takes its toll on those who knew but lend to younger employees. Return the seat and do not attempt to remove your hing. It's more than just the hinge and bolt pattern anyway, its the whole design and seal as well. You could ask if they have the custom upholstery on a 2015 or later 4 bolt seat base and perhaps exchange.

'Emmet' and I had a similar conversation when I ordered my shocks from them a few months ago, so he should have known there was a difference (assuming it isn't just a persona). It took forever to get them to tell me which shocks I needed after they told me the ones I ordered probably weren't right, so I'm not a big fan.

Good luck!

Yes, I've already emailed Emmet about the same seat for a "2017 model" instead. I am going to remove the seat (not the hinge), take a photo of the underside showing the bolts, and see if they match.

Thanks, Cube. I was surprised that he said he wasn't aware of the differences in models between Thailand and U.S. How could you not if you are also selling parts to U.S. customers. Anyway, to his credit, he has been easy to deal with and he has responded to all my emails very quickly.
