Up all night with one of our sick dogs. He is starting to have seizures and he is bumping into walls at night, sometimes getting himself stuck in the strangest places as he fights to try to get out of there. This all started a couple of weeks ago. His time must be coming to an end. I really hope not. So sad. He has been my buddy for almost 12 years now. He was a rescue that had been abused and neglected. He was on death row at the dog pound and was about to be put down.

I know exactly what you mean.

The upside is we should have some good riding days ahead of us for a change. . ..

Now to get those outside chores done I've been delayed with. Do I ride or do I get something done? In the mean time the clock spins. . ..  :?

Our last dog went the same way, one night he just stopped being able to eat, drink, navigate or balance properly and it was as if he was just a shell and when you looked him in the eyes his personality just wasn't in there.

Really miss him.

For anyone who has had pets. . .especially dogs or cats. . .it is indeed a sad time when we have to say good-bye. :(

My last dog was in such sad shape the Vet wouldn't give her a scheduled rabies shot at the time because he didn't think she could take it with the congestive heart failure looming. Her eyes were also getting bad. He gave her a month. . .maybe a month and a half to live. I told him that I'd take her home that day and get back to him about it. That said she passed away the day before she was scheduled to be put down. I came home from work and found her on her dog bed. It was one last farewell that morning as I left for work. . .. There was something about the way she looked at me. . .it was like she knew she didn't have long.

Anyhow, I'm sorry to hear about your dog. Actually anything over 10 years for a dog (depending on the breed) is a good life. Some go more, 15 years or so, but it depends. Hang on to the any pictures you have of him and remember those days when things were good. 8)

Remember, all dogs start out as puppies, so it is never a wrong time to start giving them a good home and lots of love. They don't really ask for much more than that.

The rule of thumb is that the larger the dog the shorter its lifespan. I have known of Great Danes that made it to 12 years old, but they could not walk by then and were barely eating. That is not a life.

Our dogs are Jack Russell's and they can live to be 22, but the statistics show their average life span much shorter than that, mainly because they get into trouble so much that many die much younger. Our guy is now 14, which is still old for any dog. I just didn't expect him to start having these kinds of problems so soon. My first two Jack Russell's died at 16.

Love your puppy, and take good care of it. Time flies.

After I lost my daughter 2 yrs ago - a little mixed puppy was a real gift.
We hit the park for 3 miles about 300 days a year. She minds the bazillion damn stairs up the dam a lot less than I do.

things got heated in the day room, again

I did wait for the pretty girl in the short-shorts who walks her dogs by me every morning to get down the sidewalk before snapping this pic.

That dog has Terrier in it. Terriers are usually the life of every party, and they will surprise in the funniest ways. Enjoy your little dog. They are extremely loyal.

This is my guy. His name is Butch Cassidy. Sundance died years ago.

The "Stupid People" are recycled back into Society to cause more hatred and discontent for their actions. It's an incentive for those lagging behind and newer generations to see the writing on the wall and become smart and intelligent so that they will qualify to proceed to the next level for a better living experience. To add value is to be a team player. . .to de-valuate is to corrupt and enhance scarcity. Scarcity causes distress which leads to a world of fear which brings us back to dough. :geek:   8)

Well, so much for the "me-me" generation. They are kind of young for recycling so I guess we are stuck with them for a bit longer. Luckily, I won't be around when They Have to grow up and become useful. It is going to be a very rough time.

Imagine their political speech:

"...and if I am elected I promise to get myself anything and everything that I don't already have, which mostly is that new video game they told me would be in the stores soon."
