Lust, isn't it an awful thing...

Somebody at work parked a red Triumph Thruxton R in the car park and it nearly made me late as I had to spend ages drooling over its every part.
This is one seriously beautiful bike and despite me knowing better, I want one.
Wonder if the wife would notice if my red SV650 miraculously morphed into a Thruxton R...?
Have to get a test ride, hopefully that'll cure me, there must be a fair bit of vibration from that 270 crank motor.

 Do you think the owner would allow you to test ride his bike around the parking lot? That way you won't have to get tempted at a dealer...happy wife, happy life. :x

As long as it's not this one - you should be OK after a lie down and a biscuit.

If it is.....well, no.

Totally impractical. No place to strap on your lunch pail.

Yep, that's the fucker.
Can't stop thinking about it.
If I bought it couldn't afford lunch so that works out OK from the luggage standpoint.

God damn it if you can afford it get it. . .if at the end of the day you really think the buzz will last. 8)

About your wife. . .just tell her that we don't live forever and it will help the marriage. As long as it won't take food or good times away from you both right now and the roof over your head won't be taken away and the retirement won't be threatened then what's holding you back? Tell her you promise you won't sleep with it.

Take the advice from "Pop" on "Grumpy old Men". . ."Life. . .it's about the experiences". ;)

FWIW it's the best looking Triumph they have right now IMHO. It's not a bastardized wannabe cruiser which Triumph never was. Damn I miss the old 650 twins. . .. I had a Trophy 250 for a while. . .piece of crap but there was something spiritual about it. Let us all know if you take the plunge and dump the cash. . .. Tell your wife Jesus loves her too! :D

Or ignore all the above. . .I've imbibed in a few Heinekens and Irish Coffees and my judgement may be effected. The lawn is done. . .it's Friday. . .and I'm not riding today. :D

Damn Thruxton is a work of art. :geek:

Never cheated on my taxes, or a wife. But I did buy a new yellow Norton Commando 50 yrs ago.
Sinful. ....but dear goodness just sitting in the park & looking at it was very......
or maybe it was the new orders for Vietnam on my bunk....
Carried a pic of it, and 3 pin-ups of the young wife. Wore them out to pulp.
Good times

Good times??
I know you were kidding but...
Vietnam was no one's idea of fun.

I had a Harley Sportster till 1967. Then, at some point, I had a HONDA 500. Then I had bike I can't even remember. Then another Honda.....and so on. So many different ones that i stopped counting. At no point did I think they were good times.

About the only thing I liked about that time were The Beatles. I was in, then out, then in the military again. I didn't start liking 'that time' until it was around 1973. It was like waking out of a fog.

I was still in the military, but now I was enjoying it because I was now in the Coast Guard (aviation branch) and was actually saving lives...actually doing something positive with my life.

I remember those Yellow Norton Commandos. It was a 750 right?

Then they came out with the 850 Commandos. Shift 1 up and 3 down as I remember it. Never had a Norton but did get to ride one a couple of times. 8)

I succumbed to my lust yesterday... the PCX now has a big brother (and technically a sister, you can see it in the background making laps).

If you can live without ABS you can get a nice air cooled Bonnie for around four grand.

Much as I hate to be a fly in the ointment, but I've ridden a Speed Twin and found it a little "underwhelming."

Frankly it was the most boring bike I've ever ridden. It was perhaps high hopes that clouded my opinion, but it just lacked ... everything I felt it needed.

Sorry  I soooo wanted to like it too. :(

Im glad you broke that one. I tried two versions. A plain jane one and the faux offroader. I know what was missing for me. Any evidence of grunt and character. I was desperate to like it
