Forza 300 tires (probably again)

Post by GeorgeSK »

I'm sure this has been hashed over, but the board's search function is bordering on useless.

I got my inspection today, and the rear tire is approaching the wear bar. I'm good, but not for the rest of the season. The "official" tire size for the NSS 300 rear is 140/70-13. There appear to be precious few choices in the US. What usually comes up is a Pirelli Diablo at about $90. I also found an IRC SS-560 for a bit under $70, and a Pirelli Angel for $60. Oh - and Webbike has a Dunlap Scootsmart (the OEM that the scoot is currently wearing) for $62, pls $70 shipping. Not happening.

Michelin makes City Grips (which are great on the PCX), but the size is not exactly correct. You can get 140/60-13, or 130/70-13. Pirelli makes a Diablo Rosso in 150/70. I sort of understand tire sizes, but not well enough to know what will actually fit and what trade-offs or benefits I may be getting into.

What are folks replacing their Forza tires with? Is anybody especially happy with what they have?
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!

but please, don't delete anybody, no matter how badly they deserve deleting :)

You can input sizes at a place like https://tiresize.com/calculator/ to get relative sizes and a visualization (will show car tires, but you get the idea). I didn't find anything that would be the same diameter but wider. You may be stuck with a Pirelli.

For the 2 CityGrip sizes you mentioned, the 140/60-13 is about 5% smaller and the 130/70-13 is 2.4% smaller but also narrower than stock. I'd stay with stock if it were me.

The Angel is a new tyre and if it was me I would be having a pair of those in the correct sizes.

The IRC I would leave alone because they wear out far too quickly.
The Diablo is replaced by the Diablo Rosso.

Original Scootsmart tire on mine ..no problems and the size Honda designed for it. At HONDA dealership I believed was 62.00 US plus or minus. Installed I think was another 20.00 .

My Diablo ( not the new Diablo Rosso) has never let me down. Smooth, sporty feel- likes to turn and react quicker than the Scootsmart did.
The Scootsmart did have a more stable and firm ride on the freeway like it was glued to the road in a straight line.

Most forums don't have brilliant search functions.

What I find works is to do a Google search and add "pcx forum" to the search.

ie put, "Forza 300 tires pcx forum" in the Google search box.

Replaced the original Dunlap front tire with the same brand/size (Dunlap Scootsmart) at around 12,500 miles that I got from Honda dealer. Replaced the rear Dunlap Scootsmart 140/70 with a Dunlap Scootline SZ01 150/70 at about 6500 miles. This tire now has 9500 miles on it and it's looking real good!

Yeah, after a rear tire was punctured, had to go with a 150 tire. Nothing else avail. in USA. (way to go Honda!) It made the speedo spot on!
