Camping with the PCX! Gear test fit

OK, so in my intro post I mentioned I'd get some pics of the PCX with some camping gear loaded up. Well, I did better than that.

In the video, I try to show you (in one take, so please excuse the motion and sound) how much my PCX can hold. From a modular hammock system to a large 2 person tent and more. This was a quick video, so I didn't drag out everything I take with me.

Well I tried to upload a few pics of the gear open (ones I found online at least) to no avail.

BUT, what I use when I go camping usually consists of an ENO Doublenest hammock, Underground Quilts tarp, top and bottom quilt. That comprises my whole shelter, and since its all modular and soft I can stuff in whatever I need around it, such as my GSI Kettalist cookset or if I really want to go tiny, the Sea to Summit X-Kettle thats silicone and folds flat (with space inside for a 2 cups). I would also generally carry an Osprey Skarab 18 pack with the hammock, a change of clothes, camping fuel (usually the whole "camp kitchen") and the water bladder full, leaving me even more room in the underseat compartment.

I'm always amazed at what I can carry - it usually just requires a bit of planning and thought. On RC helicopter days I can get a T-Rex 450 Pro DFC RC helicopter, controller, and 6 batteries under the seat - and on photography days I can get a Gitzo 1548 tripod with RRS 58mm ball head under there (with a lot of other stuff). On regular days I can get a full face helmet, normal jacket, high-viz jacket, and cap under there - and on the pillion position I can strap damn near anything (laser printers in their packing box and computers in their packing box are regular events) - less regular events are short timber lengths, petrol generator, air compressor. and if all else fails, a pack on my back generally sorts out anything I can't strap on. And then there's the Givi box on the back for rain gear, first aid kit, small tyre compressor, and other stuff.

The grab rail - works a treat with ratchet strops. Only "gotcha" is that the hooks on standard strops scratch up under the rail a bit, but I'm not too concerned as the bike is a workhorse for me.

I installed permanent straps on my bike. When not in use they are tie wrapped together behind the bike above the tail light. I use them a lot. I have a thread somewhere on how to set them up.

Mel,
I'd like to find that thread. I'll start looking!!
BTW, I'd also like to know more about the seat on your PCX.
Where did you get it?
How did you have it modified?
How long did shipping take?
I would love to change my seat to something more comfortable.
I've been looking at this one, with the seat back moved back 3 inches.

Thanks,
Dave

Here is the thread.
As far as the seat goes, I got it from mp.motors seats. They worked with me to customize it . They are quick to reply and will give you a progress report on it as they have it made. Just choose the seat model you are interested in and measure everything in metrics. Because mine was custom, I think I paid around $130 USD.
