Which is the better scooter tire? Both seem comparable in design and price. Any comments appreciated.

Does IRC make tires that fit the Honda Forza 300?

IRC is perceived to be a poorer quality tire than a Michelin. Who knows?

I like my City Grips in the rain.

Is it for a pcx or a Forza? City Grips works better than either of those two, but they are not made in the size for the Forza.

This is for the Forza. The only two manufacturers that I could find that makes the stock size tires. I know Michelin makes off sizes that will fit, but I want to keep it as per design by HONDA. I was wondering which brand is considered better or does anyone have experience. The Dunlop scootsmart seems to be the better , however they seem to wear faster than I would think. maybe that's a good thing ??? Just wondering about the IRC brand which I think is Japanese.

My '14 Forza came with Pirelli Diablo's . They're bias ply but seem to be OK...
Found some on ebay (bikebandits) and amazon.

choose the one with the softer compound material, they seem to have better grip...not as durable though. imo

Why do scooter tires wear out so fast?

If I had to buy car tires every 5 months I would consider the car defective.

I got 9800 km out of my factory Dunlop.

What are Thailand roads made of? Ours are all asphalt.

Is hot or cold harder on a tire? I run a fair bit in the rain. Sometimes short stretches on gravel.

Yeah, weight is a factor.

Yes I always run around 100kph. 90-100kph mostly. Alnost 18 miles travel everyday..

Thai roads are asphalt too.

Im running the stock IRC, i guess theyre more durable than the dunlops??

Hotter weather i think is harder on the tires as the tires get hotter the compound became softer,wc also result to a better grip. But faster wear..

Rain is opposite i guess. Hence less road grip..

Yes, I agree the softer compound would be the safest and most maneuverable . I am not a commuter so that would fill the bill for me. Not necessary for me to have a super long wearing tire so I guess the stock Dunlop would be best under my circumstances.

I think the Dunlop ScootSmart tire is a Honda dealer only tire.

My local Honda dealer said he can not get them so I went with the Michelin CityGrips.

Yes it carries a specific HONDA part number. 42711-K04-931 ..retails in my location for 84.00.
Is your HONDA dealer an authorized Honda dealer??..if so he should be tied into their parts network and be able to acquire HONDA certified OEM parts.

Canada seems to be set up a little differently for Honda. There are two levels of Honda dealers. The Top level are required to be Honda only and they have to carry lawnmowers, water pumps, etc. I think they have to spend $2,000,000 on their premises. The second level can be multi vendors of all makes. Not positive on the differences.

There are four makers who do tyres in the correct size for the Forza 300
IRC, Dunlop, Pirelli with one tyre each and Bridgestone who make two.

I hope you're being conservative with your running; reason I mention that is that I ran mine too long and it let go without warning at 14,000km. I knew it was getting towards the end of it's life, but when I checked the pressure about a week before nothing overly concerned me about it's condition - and it wasn't until I saw it after it had been replaced that I realised just how thin it was in the centre (it starts round on the inside and outside, but as it flattens on the outside it heads towards a tangent ...).

I've taken the decision that I won't run a rear tyre beyond 10,000km now (having had 2 of my 4 flats being the result of running it for too long) - it's a REALLY horrible feeling having a sudden flat rear tyre on the PCX 150 - especially at night in the rain+wind with pillion. I was lucky I was only going 50km/hr each time - I'd hate to lose a rear tyre in a high speed loaded corner.

I trust the tires' wear bars will tell me when it's time to change. I might have exaggerated when I said it's not even half worn, but my tires are not due for replacement yet. Thanks for the heads up. Will keep a closer check on my tires again.

Since you are in Thailand, Do you know where the Honda Forza 300 is made?

Any idea how many they have made? How many they make in a day?, Week?

The Forza is really rare around here. Not many were sold. My dealer has a brand new 14 still in his shop.

Being a lightweight guy, do you find the Forza heavy?
