NC Motorcycle Endorsement Question

Post by Coastal Mountainer »

Took my PCX to drivers license exam station and passed the required road test. However, because the pcx does not have clutch and shifter, the examiner placed restriction #13 on my license. That restriction is for auto transmissions only. It is not clear on the temp license he gave me it only applied to the motorcycle endorsement or any vehicle I drive.

Has anyone else in NC used your PCX for your road test? Were any restrictions placed on your license?

Thanks!!

Oh that's BS sir... The scoot has been used (even rented) for use to acquire Class DM. I guess North Carolina has decided to make you test on what you ride. I could have never pushed my street fighter through the ridiculous course for Illinois. Far better to scoot it and pass the first time. Hope they don't pull that crap here.

Examiner was just wrong. I called NC Highway Patrol and they said that yes, if I had restriction #13 it did apply to any vehicle I drove. The only restrictions that can be applied to a motorcycle endorsement is for a 3-wheeler.

Went back to drivers license office and had to have my examiner talk to the supervisor before he would change it. Supervisor confirmed what the Highway Patrol said.

Restriction is now removed and I can drive any motorcycle out there.

Massachusetts does indeed have a restricted motorcycle license available for scooters. Since I was taking an MSF course on a motorcycle, it seemed stupid to get a restricted licence, but it is possible to have one in this state.

I wonder how a local cop would feel about a restricted licence and a DCT equipped motorcycle....
On my scoot, getting there is WAY more than half the fun!
