A Honda Grom gets 8.96 Horse Power @ 8750 RPM
I get 92 hp @ 7500 RPM on a stock Buell

Power at the wheel is only about 75-80% of what the engine actually makes...
Another rough estimation that appears to work on the PCX is engine kW = wheel HP.
A Grom won't see even 8HP on a dyno in stock form.

I was thinking in kW, but wrote HP. :oops: Still, chains don't rob much power compared to a CVT!

My grom did around 22 hp with take 4v kit and 34mm TB
Stock around 8
12 to 13 hp with take 2v kit

Sam, have you ran the 183cc big bore 4v kit? What injector?

I ran the 181 take 4v with the injector that comes witht the kit
Part number 00-00-0487
To be uses the 34mm throttle body
Any help regarding takegawa products
Or grom or pcx let me know

great insight. does the malossi kit make the scoot better on the freeway? does it sacrifice anything - fuel consumption, belt wear etc?

It went up from 120 to 130 top speed
Same fuel consumption even less
No issue with the belt or any thing
Great mode to do

Is that 130kph on the road, or on the center stand? If on the road, how, when your producing less hp that a stock 2013 pcx150 according to the dyno in your attachment.

On the road or on the stand both it will hit 130klm on the odometer
With the malossi variator you will gain low end power till around 70 klm
Then it hold the same power but with more top speed
You lose a bit of power on top with the belt only around 1/2 hp
I didnt dyno any pcx 150 2013
Only 2016

What i miss here is Rpm reading and torque figures- that would be useful. Please ask to see them when you redo a dyno with exhausts

The stock HP is roughly the same, all about 10HP. But because the engine power is going through a CVT it changes the shape of the power delivery (and gearing), hence why the flatspot from 30-70kph is removed with a higher top speed with the new variator.
You can also remove this flatspot with lighter rollers or sliders, but with very little to no change in overall gearing like with a variator swap.

The only way to see true HP at the wheel on a dyno is to lock the variator so the belt can't ride up it as the engine speed increases.
You would also need to clamp the spark plug to get a RPM reading, and then you can see the real shape of the power delivery.

But this graph is fine to me, as it shows you real road performance through the transmission, which on a scooter is more meaningful.
