Visiting Bangkok!

Post by MiddleRiverPCX »

Hello all!
I am visiting my (adult?) son in Bankok. He has a motorbike, Yamaha Nouvo, that he might like to replace. Does anybody know where we can rent a PCX in the Bangkok area? A rental could be a long test ride
Or borrow? Or just a recommendation of the best dealer?
Two ideas we had. Rent (or buy) a PCX and the two of us ride to the nearest beach. (He told me but I forget.)
Ride to other points of interest.
Another idea, just get together with other pcx owners in the vicinity. The postal code is 10170, according to maps.
In addition, are their parts I should get while here? Anybody in the extended Baltimore area need any parts? I haven't checked parts prices.
Would be good to hear from others in the area.

Google search turns up quite a few that have PCXs. These are some on the first page.

I am 400 miles north of Bangkok and have no experience with any shop there. But be advised that renting and driving here is not like the USA.

This is a reasonable summary - http://tielandtothailand.com/how-to-ren ... -thailand/

Some highlights about renting:
The shop might want to keep your passport as security
The bike will probably only have the minimum 3rd party liability insurance, which only covers medical
You damage the bike - you pay
You damage anything else - you pay
The bike breaks down - you pay to get it back to the shop
And on riding:
Legally, you need a Thai license of an International Permit
They drive on the left side here

And for parts, remember that you cannot fly home with shock absorbers

Good luck!!

That zip isn't real close to me. I am right in the core of the city, which doesn't make for good test driving.

When are you coming to BKK?
2010 Honda PCX 125 in Thailand (White) - "White Lightning" Sold in Sept 2017 :(
2009 Yamaha Majesty YP400 in USA (Metalic Titanium) - "The Throne" Sold in June 2020 :(

My son has lived in Thailand for almost 10 years, he could rent the PCX. And I am in Thailand NOW.

Google said 10170 is around Talingchan area. It's located outskirts of Bangkok.

Go to any tourist places like Pattaya or Huahin and you can easily find a PCX for $20 a day rent.

I'm not sure about any place that rent bikes in Bangkok.

As for a dealer, just visit any Honda motorcycle shops.
Everything looks better from the inside of a motorcycle helmet...
