2015 PCX 150 Black, added pinstriping

I picked up my new 2015 Honda PCX 150 - Black this week Monday. I love the black and noticed a blue metallic in the paint so I decided to add some electric blue pinstriping to the bike and thought I'd post some pictures. I probably have about 4-5 hours into the pinstriping but I am pleased with the outcome. So far I love this machine! I'm adding a Volo Brake light to it later today and some LED lighting to it. I'll post more pictures as I add some modifications.

Very nice, a bit too much for my tastes, but executed well.

Phenomenally done, actually. Do you do pin-striping on a regular basis, or are you just very, very patient?

I do a fair amount of just straight pinstripes on cars. I've never done anything this elaborate. I'm normally not this patient, but a perfectionist so when I get in this mode I tend to keep going at it and there's no stopping me (as you can see). Sometimes I look at it and think I overdid it, but once I got started on it I just didn't know where to stop. Is it a bit much? Perhaps, but it's like no other PCX I've ever seen and that was important to me too. The nice thing is if I grow tired of it or want to change it up it's not permanent. I just painted the front brake caliper blue too. Here's a picture of the brake & my helmet.

Freak OUT! reminds me of the movie TRON! Good job and you may not know it yet but when you went around the rear hand rails you had a choice and you choose well :D That's a prominent place to drag your boot if you mount like a man scuffing the edge of the plastics and any thing adhered to it, which on second thought might be prefered 8) You did every thng but the rims which was your original thought right?

Ooh, that's quite lovely. If it wasn't for the blue caliper I would've suggested blue rim stripes for the black rims. But I think that's too much now.
A bronze/gold caliper might've been a bit more classy for my tastes. Hell, bronze/gold wheels would do the trick. Well, one of those too.

My family is originally from Chipewa Falls. :) Now they all live in Denver I think.
Gav.

A gold caliper probably would look pretty sharp. Never thought of that. It would really pop vs. being a subtle accent. I may have to paint gold someday. Thanks for the feedback.

For my taste, the side panels seem a bit much, but I like why you have done it .... "it's like no other PCX." So long as you like it, that is what counts. Good job!

I think know it looks nice, not too obvious yet more attractive than just plain black.
I thought about painting my brake caliper but the bike wouldn't hold still. It wanted to be ridden. :-)
Did you hand painted it or spray paint it? Did you have to remove it to paint it?

I've painted calipers on several cars and removed them, taped them off and spray painted them with high temp paint. For the PCX I just hand painted it using automotive touch-up paint I had sitting around. I did not remove it and painted the backside through the wheel so I could get every visible part painted blue. So it cost me nothing and took maybe 30-45 minutes. It's not a match to the blue pinstripe but since I had the color and it was close enough I used it.

Let's stop messing around. We can appreciate the the time, and skill, you've put into the tape but the overall result is something unusual but to your taste. Nobody else's

First thing anybody would do is peel it off but we are to polite to say it.

I too am too polite for a justified response to your post, but hey, someone has to be the grown up. Like it or leave it, doesn't matter to me. I enjoy doing things like this that some will appreciate but if nobody else does it doesn't change how I feel about my work. Life's too short. Cheers.

Right on! Good perspective and attitude!

Opinions are like arm pits. Everyone has them and they all stink at some point in time. ;)

I kind of like the calipers and most of the pin striping. Peeling it off certainly wouldn't be the first thing I did ... but then again, maybe my arm pits stink, but I don't think so this time. ;)

Zack,

Excellent work. With your first pic, I was not really into the look, but by the end you sold me - nicely done.

I must echo Homie's Tron comment.

What's next??? You aren't stopping with that, are you

Mike

No, I'm definitely not done...before I bought the PCX last Monday I spent about 2 weeks looking at Jge64 build and was so inspired by it. I plan on doing the taller windshield & exhaust. I have some LED strip lights but I'm struggling with where to put them. I like the ones Jge64 put on the front forks, but I'm just not sure where I want mine yet. I ordered 2 round orange LED's to replace the orange reflectors & 2 round red LED's to replace the red reflectors. I have my VOLO light to install, it's a license plate frame that lights up when it detects you decelerating. I often decelerate without braking and that's not very safe since those behind me don't see my brake light then, so I thought this would be a good solution. I'll probably hook up a cheap motorcycle alarm just for fun. I ordered a Sena SMH5 bluetooth headset for my helmet so I can listen to the tunes from my phone which I have mounted on the handlebar. I went with the Aduro U-GRIP PLUS and it works great! I had to shave off a little from each side of the bracket for it to fit under the bar between the clamps, but it really holds the phone nicely. I think I'm going to paint the caliper gold just to see how it looks. I'd love to see other LED options so if you've done some please share! Ok, now I have to look up this TRON reference, never saw it. Thanks for the feedback.

Yep/Yup! Definitely "TRON!" 8)
I like most of it!

Just Imagine if all the blue pinstripping was reflective, some would be ...."Blinded by the Light"....
