Since I'm new to the PCX, what's the best fix for a sore butt?
When I hit pot holes or even rough road surfaces it feels like I have no rear shocks.
When pushing down by hand there are a couple of inches of travel/rebound.
Please use layman terms or explain. I don't fully understand suspension/shock terminology.

Look at a set of YSS z series shocks, about $100 and they make the bike very compliant.

There are a few options, and you may want to explore them all, or just as much as you need to make the ride comfortable for you.

1 Stock suspensions on most entry level motorcycles are of poor quality and performance. The damping characteristics are limited and they won't hold up well to hard riding. In any event, you can get better rear shocks, for not a lot of money. There are many threads about this on this forum, so I won't go into brands. Something with a pre-load adjuster on it is recommended.

2 You can modify the seat with a cushion or perhaps some sheepskin. This won't solve any issues with the shock absorbers bottoming out, but it might add comfort for your tush.

3 You can buy a custom seat. There are several options, and again, this is something that has been discussed on these forums at some length.

I'd recommend changing the shocks simply due to the safety concerns inherent in having crappy rear suspension. Adding a cushion or changing the seat may make the seat more comfortable, but they won't keep your shocks from bottoming out.

Our roads are not really terrible, but there are a fair number of breaks and divots. I find the PCX nimble enough so that if I am paying attention, I can avoid most of the nastiest disruptions. I also tend to ride with my feet a bit back on the footrests, and if something cannot be avoided, then I use my legs and come up off the saddle a bit (like when I ride a bike). I sometimes miss stuff and end up taking a hit, but so far it has not been enough to cause me to part with any money. Someday, I will very likely upgrade, but I hope to get 20K miles out of the original equipment.

I changed out both the shocks and the seats on our two PCXs. Big difference. If you go to powerbypcx.com you should find a good selection of both. YSS shocks are good shocks. I haven't checked to see if they had the 'Z' version, but they do have YSS shocks.

Took a little over 2 weeks for mine to arrive and I'm on the east coast. Now if only the weather would warm up so I can put them on...

I also ordered YSS shocks from Bikerbitz.com and it took 4 weeks from Thailand to Michigan. It was only 4 days to San Francisco and 25 days there to Michigan - #$%#@ postal system!

Your delay was probably more US customs that the PO. It took a week for mine to get thru customs at JFK

Useful info guys as I've just posted on this very topic! Will certainly look into sourcing some YSS shocks from here in the UK. Thanks.
