This is funny - and obscure to anyone not an AARP member.
I used the term "group W bench" a few mos ago in the presence of my teenage daughter. She made the mistake of asking me to explain.....so we took a trip to youtube for the Full Monty, by Master Arlo. (I did try to explain the story - but that is just impossible)
I lived in Mass near where all this went down, so it was always a favorite for me.
As for registering : a few months ago I found a long lost buddy still living in Manhattan. The last time we met I was on my way to Vietnam as a medic, and he had just mailed back his draft card, with a forwarding address. Charlie was that kind of guy. He told the selective service, "No thanks", but did not go into hiding. He took a job at City College in NYC.

I was amused and amazed to find him still in the Manhattan - He said he remembered me and wondered if I'd "made it". The only consequence he suffered from his actions was that he lost a great job at City College, but that nothing else happened to him for refusing the draft. Threats of court action - but the popular press killed that. Amazing.
It was ALL such a big deal at the time in a young man's life.

You'll have to explain because I'm from UP North. All new to me but are you a convicted litterbug or a conscientious objector? I know or used to know at least one American with a "past"!
