crashed the bike today

coming home from work, light traffic all around me, a park car pulls out into right lane then moves into the left lane and puts me on the ground

PCX is scratched up and I'm hauled away via ambulance to the hospital with a compound fractured right arm, plus scrapes and bruises

joke of it is a cop was only about 3 cars behind me, so i got a solid witness

Could you have slowed down so you were not riding beside him in his blind spot? Was there traffic in the oncoming lane so that you couldn't move over to make room when he started to change lanes toward you?

Egads! Another fall and a painful one at that! So sorry xixon. Be good, take your pain meds and count your blessings, there's a lesson to be learned from what we do. While healing fast ;) think about "how you" might have avoided this Bad meeting of vehicles. Maybe you could've done something? Maybe? I don't know, I wasn't there.

Did you (or others reading), ever hear of a book called "Proficient Motorcycling?" Sooo many riders have read this book and LEARNED from it. Yep, I'm one of them! :D
Why not pick up a copy and read it while your healing? It will help your self confidence and teach you right from wrong riding....and then some. Here's one of the many places you can purchase it:

Feel better, and please keep chatting with us ;)

thanks for the feedback guys....much appreciated

I guess almost any accident is preventable, so they say, but this kid went from being parked to the right lane then straight to the left lane all in one motion....just never seen it coming.

It looks like September went out with a bang. What a month! Unfortunately we have a lot of drivers like that here also. They don't seem to care if anyone is in the space they want. They just go, and everyone had better get out of their way.

So here is a story to cheer you up a little. I mentioned previously that someone clipped and totalled my suv only 2 days after our scooter accident. Well someone else got hit last night, same place, same circumstances. While the cops were directing traffic around the accident some idiot who thought he was entitled decided to ignore the cops and go through the forbidden area. As he came flying past one of the cops who was writing up the accident, that cop dropped his clipboard, jumped in his car with siren going and went after that guy. Caught up with him shortly there after too. How bold! How stupid! How caught! :-)

xixon, this really stinks.

So...was the car driver pulling onto "your" road from another road (or lot, or whatever), then suddenly switched lanes? Just trying to get a feel for yet another thing to watch out for. (Okay, technically, we all probably watch for cars pulling out anyway, but the immediate/sudden lane switching isn't as common.)

Well, at least your broken arm came toward the end of riding season, and not at the beginning...not that that's any consolation.

it was a 3 lane road ...parking in the far right, i was in the far left.....so he jumped over the middle lane and when straight into my left lane....and too fast for me to react

doctor phoned this morning, asked me to come in, they want to do surgery tomorrow and put in a steel plate...so they split the cast to make it easier/quicker for the surgeon

got some heavy duty drugs to keep me happy

my buddy went to the accident site today and drove the PCX home for me....really not that much damage,,,just a couple of scrap marks

Yikes, that's unfortunate. I would've considered Terminal Ave. one of the safer streets to ride down, but you do get a lot of drop offs and pickups at those two office buildings. Hopefully no insurance troubles for you, thankfully you have VPD as a witness.
