leftover PCX125 price, cost

Post by sendler2112 »

Do Honda dealers get "hold back" money like the car dealers? A Mercedes dealer can earn 5-7% hold back money so that even if they really sell the car at cost, they can still make 7% later if their scores are up.
.
My dealer put a PCX125 scooter on the floor for the first time a couple months ago that I am interested in if I can get a good deal on it. Which right now is nowhere near sticker because it has been made obsolete by the PCX150 which has 15% more power and has the speed limiter increased or removed so that people are 9 mph faster to 71 mph.
.
I hang out there on Saturdays as an amateur salesman and talk to the working owner. I was surprised when he even ordered the 125 and he eluded to getting a big discount on it from Honda to help get rid of them before word of the upgrade to 150 spread. I think he paid around $2500 for it but they are telling me I can have it for "cost" at $3100 which is too high right now. Individuals selling them on Craig's list with 500 miles can't even get $2500 because everyone that knows, wants the newer engine. Should I be an ass to my friends and beat them up for another $300 off?

If the 150 is available can't see why anyone would buy a new 125.
If you want a 125 get a used one.

Most early PCX125 owners paid a premium, $3700 plus tax, title and reg, for the bike when it was the newest thing last year and have yet to come to grips with the shock at the amount of depreciation that the upgrade to 150 has caused. Their loans are totally upsidedown by $1000 even after a year of payments. Used PCX125 prices in the US are still listed in the ludicrous, $3400 range and most would be sellers are just deciding to keep them when people like me tell them they better grab the first $2500 offer they get before fall hits and shuts down motorcycle sales in the North East USA. If it was just for me, I would jump on a new, leftover 125 at $2800 with 0% down financing but my son will ride it to learn on and he is 6'1, 270 pounds. The 150 has many important improvements and might still be worth even an extra $800 to me in the long run given his weight.

At that height and weight you need all the cubes you can get.
But would you want to turn your brand new shiny scooter loose on a learner...?
I sure wouldn't.
If my son wants to learn to ride he will be getting an old beater.

And it works fine for everything but super highway doesn't it. Did you do anything to the seat?

It does tbh

Nothing to the seat yet but could do with it. the hump causes numb bumb after about 20 miles

Trouble is to get the seat done in the UK I'd have to take the bike of the road. To order one from clubpcx in Thailand looks like it would cost £150ish. Not ClubPcxs fault its the carriage and duty

DIY seat modification/humpectomy is pretty straightforward and shouldn't take more than a couple of hours.
