Sold the FORZA for a new Burgman
Found a good "internet deal" for a new Burgman 400 a few days ago.
It was delivered today, and the Forza is no longer in my garage.
I will miss that fun riding - and great looking RED scooter!
The Burgman works better for me and the Mrs. on our country rides.
ABS, made in Japan ,twin front discs, huge & usable underseat storage & the seat stays up, twin headlights like the Forza - but no amber running lights, better mirrors for big guys, etc. Wish it was shiny white - only had 2 colors to choose from....all 'flat' - which is cool & new - but I don't care for it....I want to wax something!
The vast majority of you folks have been very welcoming and helpful to me as an owner (purchased exactly 1 yr ago today !) and for that I'm thankful.
I've had a great time with this fine scooter and with this forum.
Thank you truly, and ride safe.
Stig
Keeping the LIKE200i for foul weather work commuting. It is worth a lot more to me than its poor KBB value.
This Burgman feels massive - but I guess I'll get used to it.
PS: that adjustable back rest gets my knees completely away from the front cowling ---- nearly 3" further! Amazing. The stable, now.

Re: Sold the FORZA for a new Burgman
Fish's biggest regret with the FORZA:
Wish I could have adjusted the valves!...but only 4800 miles on it.
Reading up last night on doing the Burgman's valves... a couple of years from now.

Nice! You can seal the matte finish and get some lustre from the spray on polymers, blackfire crystal seal and optimum opti seal are two good ones...

Re: Sold the FORZA for a new Burgman
Doing the valve clearances on the Burger is even worse than the Forza.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

Wouldn't be the same without one last encouraging shot fromgn2 wrote:Doing the valve clearances on the Burger is even worse than the Forza.

Re: Sold the FORZA for a new Burgman
I just did the opposite. I recently sold my Burgman 650 and bought a Forza 300.
Re: Sold the FORZA for a new Burgman
You brought up the valve clearance check issue.
Fact is its a harder job on a Burger 400 than a Forza.
Can't see what donkeys have to do with it.

Because you've done valve clearance on both scoots?gn2 wrote:You brought up the valve clearance check issue.

Whether or not I've done it is of no relevance.Pcxdemon wrote:Because you've done valve clearance on both scoots?

Re: Sold the FORZA for a new Burgman
When I had my Burgman 400 the valve adjustment took the shop 30 minutes. Yes, they had to take panels off, but after you do it a few times you get confidence and can do all sorts of things on it. Also, there are a ton of videos on youtube about how to do everything on the Burgman.
By the way, you can order a passenger backrest for it, and Givi makes tailboxes for it. Mine had both, but you could just put the tailbox on and order the backrest pad that you attach to the tailbox. I think your passenger would be happier with the factory backrest though.
I loved my Burgman 400. I think you will too. I even added some additional led lights in the back so that vehicles behind me would know without a doubt that I wanted to stop. I loved my Burgman. The weight is low so the balance is great. I installed a Givi windshield and took it on long rides. It is not an around town little bke, but you have your other scooter for that. What more could you ask for?! Give it time and you will love it.

Re: Sold the FORZA for a new Burgman
The current model 2007- Burgman is dohc with underbucket shims.
The cams have to come out to do the adjustments.
In order to get adequate access to the head for the work, the seat, tunnel, rear bodywork and the airbox have to be removed.
You also need to have the correct size shims to hand, and you need to disassemble everything to find out what size you need.
I very much doubt anyone could complete the job in half an hour.

Of course it is, you claimed it's a fact so I assumed you're stating from first hand experience...gn2 wrote:Whether or not I've done it is of no relevance.Pcxdemon wrote:Because you've done valve clearance on both scoots?
But as usual full of wisdom but no actual experience in any of it.

I don't boast about that, so I have dignity..
Is that enough? Obviously not, I don't have that special avatar. Things that money can buy...sigh

Maybe you'd like to share with us why having to remove the camshafts on the Burger makes it an easier job?Pcxdemon wrote:I assumed you're stating from first hand experience...

Come on, share your first hand experiences with us.

It is a shimmering beacon of self importance and not for everyone. Maybe if you have an iPad you could make a small sticker for below the screen that emulated the avatar? Just to get the feel for things should greatness come your way.Pcxdemon wrote:Pcxdemon wrote:No, well I do..I actually donate with real factual experience working on Pcx.
