The helmet hanger thing

Hi everyone.

I've just moved from a 650 Kawasaki Versys to a 2014 Forza 300. Loving it so far, and looking forward to getting advice on here.

First question -the bike came with the helmet strap thing, and the manual has a picture of how you're supposed to attach it under the seat, but I don't understand the pictures.

Can someone explain to this idiot exactly how I use the thing?

Thanks

Hi, Paul.

I just rode my 2014 Forza home from the dealership a little bit ago and have just finished working through the manual. The helmet hanger has me a bit confused as well, but what I think they mean for us to use is the little plastic peg right next to the seat latch. Notice that it's just a square bit of plastic sticking up that fits into a hole in the bottom of the seat. That bit of plastic has a notch cut in it. I think we're meant to loop the wire into that notch and then latch the seat.

Doesn't seem terribly secure to me, but better than leaving the helmet unsecured.

Pax et bonum,
Michael

I don't know what Forza goodies come with under the seat but I'm betting like PCX its pretty low tech  So as you can see it probably looks like a loop of cable drawn in the center with some heat shrink plastic. But how do you hook anything to that you are thinking.

Open your seat, find the only place to hang it... then stare at it hanging there for a while.
Look at your helmets 'D' rings (which you most likely don't have on modern helmets) but pretend you do have 'D' rings and SHAZAM!

Honda puts that in there for new forum members... and it never gets old

Do people just use this strap as a convenience to attach the helmet when in trusted places?

Oh no! The "coolant clip" again! relic, iceman, yak, others...let's find another way! We need a plug with a D-ring (like a mini sink drain-stopper). Dang plastic clips! Nothing but a puzzlement!
