New speaker

Just got a new little speaker that works great around town. Its a Soundbot SB517FM. Paid 13.99 for it. Has a suction pad on backside and I stick it to the left side of my tachometer so I can still see the needle on higher RPMs. Its bluetooth, wireless/chargable, and waterproof. Waterproof rating is IPX7, highest is 9, 7 is able to withstand high pressure water blasts. I couldn't find any other 7 for less than $40. It has a FM radio which only picks up the country station here, but I use my Ipod touch with bluetooth, which is smooth. On Amazon its marked down from $99 to $14. Great buy I think for the money.

That is inexpensive for features like waterproof (some of the reviews say they even use it in the shower). How is volume while riding.

I can hear my rock n roll alot clearer than my techno music when riding, its more crisp sounding then bass sounding. Its small so i didnt expect the bass to be great anyway. And maybe I can set different EQ balances on my Ipod to make the techno sound better. But Jack White is rocking loud, crisp and clear. The speaker is like a tweeter speaker for cars. I'm also half deaf in my right ear, so it'd be about 25% louder to anyone else. I think its rated at 80 or 90 decibles. And yes its shower safe too, in fact IPX4 waterproof rating is shower safe. IPX7 is safe with direct pressure and so many gallons per minute. Wiki IPX waterproof codes to see detailed analyses. You see lots of speakers that claim waterproof, but the IP code is the true definition.

I am sure everyone appreciates your music blaring as you ride by the quiet roads :)

It turns heads for sure. My area has about 30-40mph speed limits and I hear it fine. Probably wont be loud enough on highway tho.

I recently purchased a little wireless speaker for my bike also, though I don't use it very often. It is sn Altec Lansing H2O. Works well on my Ram Mount that is attached to my brake reservoir. It sounds good and is about the same as other speakers of this size and caliper, plus it is waterproof.

I looked up that radio on Amazon and was surprised that it has, along with all of the other things mentioned, an FM radio. If you go on a long ride and run out of music, you can just switch it over to to the radio and keep listening. Nice find for only $14.

Thanks for the find... I haven't been overly compelled to figure out a way to play music while riding, but for that price? Yeah... it's worth trying.

I purchased this speaker and just received it yesterday. Charged it up this morning. I don't have anything with Bluetooth to pair it to,
but was just going to see how it works with the fm radio. I found that I have to leave the usb charging cable attached to the speaker
when searching for stations and listening to the fm radio, it acts as an antenna. Without the usb cable attached it will not pick up the radio
stations here. Haven't taken it on the Forza yet to see how well it performs in motion or how well the suction cup will stick.

Tempted to order one at this price. Some of the reviews, though, mention that the FM radio reception stinks.

That's probably mainly what I'd use. Maybe someone makes a small device like this that is just an Fm radio...

Seems like a really good price if you want BT.

Hilarious. Best "performance" mod ever. Or at least no worse than others...

Mine should get here by Friday. I've got a 30 minute ride to work, but pretty much intend on only using it paired with my phone to play mp3's.

Yeah for me the FM doesn't work well, as I said before it only picks up the country station. I should've mentioned theres about 10 stations here. I've been using it and i do enjoy it. I do find myself wanting more tho now. Looking into $80-100 bluetooth, waterproof sets that go on hundreds of watts instead of 3. But it requires running a cord to the battery. Jealousy of all the Harley cruisers sound systems here is setting in. This little thing will still get use camping and hiking if I decide to go bigger.

Tried it this morning. It works fine (picks up radio well), but I probably won't bother using this for the scooter. Once I get moving, the wind noise and shield down on the helmet makes it impossible to hear it. For those that have the larger windshield and can duck under it to avoid the wind, it's probably fine.

Up until what speed can you go, and still be able to hear the music in normal city traffic?
