Benchmark Stock 2015 PCX

Post by homie »

Prior to valve clearance adjustment and rubber upgrade plus any other possible things I tweak this winter here is my two video bench documentation of where I am now with 1500 miles on a 2015 stock PCX150 American version.

A second video will be posted of the actual run which will log the zero to 60 acceleration time and eventual top speed. With good weather tomorrow and no wind or police on my choice of asphalt... we should have it.

I'm choosing a slight grade as my constant for this and all future benchmarks because everyone always seems to want to know how fast downhill LOL.

I can't go faster than 64mph down hill at the limiter

might be the benefits of cooking your piston rings during break in, maybe I should have done that...

Since you're new... =P

2015 hits the limiter new at 65-66mph. I've got my 2015 going 75-76mph with a NCY variator and NCY drive face running 20x15 13G NCY rollers ($120 shipped for all parts). The 2015's have a one tooth difference on the internal gear limiting top speed by 3mph or so compared to the 2013's. To change that means pulling the motor and ordering a high gear set for something like $150 I think? =(

At some point other than downhills, you can't really go much faster anyway, so it wouldn't be worth it to gear it to 85mph anyway.

How hard is it to install and NYC variator and drive face?? I don't even know what that is. And honestly I only need mine to do 65mph on the hwy. But there is one stretch that is 65mph speed limit going down hill. I'd like my limiter not to bog me down when I could possibly go 75 and keep with traffic.

You are working me scooterman, as much as I was against burning the candle at both ends on my new PCX I have to hand it to you this is sounding way too tempting.

It looks like 0 to 60 in 18-19 seconds and then 7 seconds to top speed. I will say 26 seconds to maximum velocity on my stock 2015 PCX150 for this bench. Now it's time for valve lash adjustment and then weather permitting do it again without scary ROCK HAULERS o_O at the bottom of the grade.

About 20 minutes, need a compressor and an air gun and some basic handtools.

When you say top speed of 75, are you speaking real world on the road with a rider, or on a bench as a theoretical top end?

Wow..the difference!! My 164cc does 9 sec to 60 and about 14-15 sec to top out at its maximum velocity of 135kmh..

76mph on the 2015, that's on the road with me at 150lb. On the stand it does 79mph.

Gnarly! 9secs is great! I think my CBR250 took 9 or 10 secs to get to 60! I know I timed my old Honda Reflex to 60, but think it was closer to 16 seconds. I may just have to test out my scooter with my current setup and see what I get!

I had it at 8.6sec to 60 not that long ago...then I installed yuminashi inertia weight on the crank for better top end performance (more torque) but that costed me little it in acealaration department. Had to modifiy the inertia weight slightly to gain back that acealaration and I've ended somewhere in the middle..now acealaration is in low 9's and top end power is awesome in to the wind and no screen either. I think with the screen (which I don't like helmet noise from it) it would be just unreal..

Hey did you mean to say one of those tall screens would make performance better? I just assumed if you put a sail on anything but a tall ship there would be great loss in speed and acceleration.

Screen helps at higher speeds. Your body surface is much greater so it acts as a drag but with screen it reduces that pressure your body projects. The only negative is that you will get heaps of buffeting around your helmet and increase in the wind noise..that,can get quite annoying.
