Generic PUIG windshield in 2015 PCX125

I intend to install one of these days a windshield specifically made for the 2015 model, but in the meantime I have adapted an old windshield that I removed from one my old scooters. It's a PUIG model, originally intented for the Yamaha NEO's 50cc. I have taken some pictures, in case that you did not think about that possibility.

The protection from the wind is excellent, and I cannot say if it affects mileage or maximum speed, as I'm still braking in the motor (130 kms in the odometer right now ;) )

There are other manufacturers that offer windshields to install in the handlebars, like FABBRI, so this concept is feasible:

The very curvy line that describes the windshield in its lower part is because I adapted it to other scooter, so lots of RRR here!!!! (Reduce, Reuse, Recycle      )

If I intented to keep this windshield for a long time, I would cut the curvy lower line to an straight line, following the flat steel bar that reinforces the lower área of the windshield, so that it would look better. The pilot can see the odometer, etc, from the pilot's view right now, but the curve looks weird ;)

In case that you were wondering, in this pic you can see the Yamaha NEO's 50cc scooter that I talked you about, in which I originally installed this windshield, where you can see its original shape. This pic was taken 15 years ago... time flies!!!

That is really interesting. Are there any stability issues in windy conditions, Such as getting blown around on the road?

I have not noticed any adverse effect with that windshield installed ;)

Take this phrase with a grain of salt, as I have only used the windshield in about 100 kilometres, and I haven't reached "high speeds", as I'm still braking in the motor, but I'm almost 100% sure that this type of windshield/location does not affect the stability. FABBRI manufactures one model like that for the PCX, as I mentioned, and the other day I found some pics in a Japanese website of a BIONDI handlebar windshield for the PCX:

(I have other pics, in case that someone is interested)

I'm sure that this type of windshield would work ok in the long run, and it protects the whole body (helmet included) from the elements. It looks a little strange, but no one has stared at me because of it, so it must not look bad at all!

When I remove it to install the new one I will keep it, in case that I decide to reinstall it in the future. It's a really trusty windshield that has served me well for many years!!! ;)

I have the tall Honda wind shield like the one shown in the 2013 and 2015 side comparison. I removed it and installed the original small black windshield. I did this when I was getting blown around at 50 to 55 MPH in windy conditions. But, I was new to riding at that time. I'm tempted to re-install my tall windshield to see if this concern is still an issue. :)

I'm almost sure that if you re-install the tall Honda windshield you will notice that the scooter is more stable, now that you have more miles under your belt ;)

I have been riding motorcycles for more than 30 years, and at first I did not like riding in windy days because I felt more or less what you describe. With experience, you learn to transfer your weight and to modify your speed/react quickly to adapt to wind conditions. You can try to re-install it again, and see if you feel it different now. If you do not notice improvements, perhaps you can leave it installed to see if things change with some extra time? ;)

With the cooler weather coming soon, I most likely will install my tall windshield. I have a idea that you may be right pcxpower. :)

Ok, I did reinstall my tall honda windshield. Got about a mile down the road with the wind blasting on my helmet so bad that I made a quick beeline back home, leaving my husband in my dust, and installed the original. I was going 45 to 50 mph. The wind was actually rattling the shield on my helmet. We were back on the road in about 15 minutes. Short windshield is much better for me.

Oh, I understand... this is the reason why I did not purchase the Honda (or other similarly sized) windshield, as I prefer to have a higher one, so that the wind goes over the helmet. I'm tall (6.07 feet) and I need higher windshields, but even if I were shorter, I'm sure that I would also like to have more protection...

Given that you have already determined that you need a different windshield (or stay with the original one, being less protected) and you are not going to need the Honda one, perhaps you can try to sell it? It's really well made, looks absolutely stunning, and I'm sure that there were be lots of PCX owners for whom it will fit ok ;)

Thanks! About your question, depending of the rider's height and position, one can see almost the whole dashboard, and more importantly the speed, which is really important! Anyone shorter than 6.07 feel would have no problem at all :D

Soon I will be installing a new windshield, specifically made for this model, as I indicated in my first message, but I'm sure that it will protect less than this one, as it will be shorter. I will post some pics and impressions when I receive/install it ;)
