Everytime we ride we get and give the wave. Our scooters have the tall windscields so they look larger than they are, and since we ride as a couple our imprint is larger. People are really surprised when we tell them these are scooters. As with most of you, our returned waves are either from older riders or young people on scooters or smaller bikes. Many Harley riders ignore us unless they are older. Rice rocket riders seem too involved with themselves to bother.

JCVA -- watch your attitude. Rice rocket is a term towards a type of rider, not a race. It refers to someone who rides any of the cheap Japanese bikes that Honda, Suzuki, etc. import for cheap speed. It's no worse than calling a guy with no gear a squid, a Harley rider a Pirate, or making fun of any other motorcycle group, which many of us have. If you take racism from the term "rice rocket," you're looking for trouble where there is none.

I'm from Georgia too, do you think I'm in the KKK? Suggesting someone is in the KKK based on their region or a simple comment is ignorant and unacceptable. Be polite in the future or you'll find yourself banned.

I wave to everyone -- sport bike riders, harley riders, kids on school buses, old people... Anyone who looks at me gets a smile and a wave. It's amazing how many people smile and wave back.

I do get a few people ignoring me, surprisingly the group that ignores me the most or rolls their eyes are the guys riding adventure style bikes -- BMW GSes, V-stroms, etc. I find that ironic considering I bought a V-strom... After that, the super sports ignore me -- GSXRs, Ducatis, etc. Usually the cheaper sport bikes (like Ninjas) wave back, they're out to have fun too rather than to look like they're cooler than me.

I have noticed that I get way more waves when the dog rides with me. Everyone loves four paws on a bike.

I would agree that the term "rice rocket" seems to have been made in reference to a machine and not a person. I don't know whether or not the majority of hondapcx.org members are offended by it or not. I for one am not offended by it. I lump it in the same category as the term "cage" for a car. Some don't like it and may feel it is dehumanizing. I'm not bothered by it. But when we start making personal insults toward individuals, I believe that is not what we want and is against the forum rules (of which there are very few).
