I've only gone about 15 miles on the flashy, but I've never fully run out before.

I've done just over 20 miles on the flashy and when I filled up it took more fuel than the spec sheet says it can.....

that has happened to me too. I rode it home (15 miles) on the flashy and filled the tank with 1.63 gallons... must have been on fumes. My rule of thumb - if its not flashing when I leave, i'm good to go all the way

Well you could run out in the middle of nowhere and go look for a can of petrol at a nearby farm and knock on the door and it could be answered by two buxom blond twin farmers daughters who agree to give you a gallon of petrol but only after you've spent the afternoon humping the pair of them senseless...?

Doesn't this risk damage to the fuel pump? Not certain, but it might.

or it could be the lonely perverted masochist farmer that answers and then spends the rest of the day rogering you with a pitchfork then hanging you on a meat hook.

I'd rather just fill up when the bar starts to flash to be honest.

Yes, it does. The scooter will die before any real damage occurs though. You really have to worry about debris at the bottom of your fuel tank though. Crap from dirty fuel can settle on the bottom and go in your fuel injection system when it gets that low. Best to avoid running her dry, or even near it.

Ever seen Deliverance? That was filmed near me, and I have met hill people like that in areas of North GA. No teeth, inbred, mumbling speech, and filthy... Ugh...

The Top Gear special was from Alabama, arguably a worse place than North Georgia...

I didn't realize the country folk here are of Scottish ancestry, I always figured they were a pretty thorough mix of the British Isles, with some other European thrown in (just like most places in the USA).
