They work great and I added some smaller ones below those to block almost all of the wind. Also, since I used industrial strength velcro, I can remove them if need be, especially during really hot summers. I know that they could be better, so I am working on a better fitting pair. Meanwhile, they work fine.

We have to Walmarts near me and neither had the cup holder in stock.

When I ordered our 2nd cup holder Walmart didn't have any in stock either, so I went on amazon and searched for bicycle cup holders. They had quite a few to choose from. Oh, one more thing. Before I installed the cup holders I wrapped the bar with a silicone tape. You can get that at any hardware store, or Walmart. This keeps the holder from rotating.

I'm going on a long ride up to Valley Center this Saturday with the Scooter Squadron so I decided to add a water bottle holder too. I got the Topeak handlebar cage adapter because it has a setback that clears the chrome handlebar turning circle cover thingie. It fits perfectly, plenty of clearance ahead of my knees and doesn't block my view of the instruments. So far I think I like it.

The Camelback water bottle doesn't need to be opened and closed, you have to draw slightly on the nipple or squeeze the bottle to get the water to flow so it's not leaking all over the place when not in use, it also has a lever that can be turned to lock it closed and make it completely airtight. It's a great bottle for one-handed operation.

I know some riders say don't drink anything while riding, but rather pull over to drink. In most cases I would agree, but there have been times when we were on a long ride on country roads with no one within miles. We would stop off at a gas station and get a large drink, or take one out of our tailbox. In many cases we would be in a time crunch in that we wanted to get to our destination and back before sunset or shortly there after. We would put the big gulp cup in our cup holders and head off again, with long straws on the cups to make it less likely that we would have to take our eyes off of the road. It works out quite well, and if we don't use the drink, it is safe and won't spill. We don't always use the drink holder, so it is good that it isn't in the way.

Well, I was thinking that it would be handy at a stoplight (like I typically do on my bicycle) or one of the times the group pulls over for a short break. I don't think that I'll do a lot of drinking while actually riding but it's a lot better than having to get off and open the seat. I want to stay hydrated but with the extra drinking I may find myself wanting a catheter.

For the coffee drinkers, I saw that they have modular bottle holders or cup holders that can also attach to the water bottle mount so the handlebar mount can be useful for more than just bicycle waterbottles.

Have you thought about a nice saucer?

It doesn't need to be bone, but it does help.

Aren't you colonials talking about some sort of flask holder? That beverages can be glugged on the fly?

I got a Kruzer Caddy in black via Amazon. It works much better than the marine swivel holder I was using. No coffee bouncing out of the top of the cup when I hit bumps. The only slight negative is that it blocks the seat from opening all the way -- I have to use my shoulder to hold the seat open. No biggie.

But of course! That was the main reason for ours when we first put ours on. We have some 32oz. Dunkin' Donuts hot and cold cups that fit in the cup holders quite well. They keep the drinks either hot or cold. To us, that is the way to go. Go to a coffee shop that has both hot coffee and iced coffee and you might find a selection of containers for sale that will work in all seasons. Then try to locate something that will work for a holder. The bicycle ones were just right for us.

Thanks to a recommendation from member Free-Dog (in another thread), I ordered, received and mounted this one yesterday. Better than the strapped thingy I bought above. I will use that cross-my-heart while walking about.

REMEMBER!! To Stay Hydrated Always! I've been severely de-hydrated twice in my life! Once from illness and taken to the ER, the other from Riding in full gear for hours and Not drinking!
I can't stress enough: It totally sucks! Sadly Dave just went through this.

Be aware! Replace all Your fluids that "sneak away" during the course of the Day!
