Hi Tom, I realize how this may seem biased as possibly being from said dealer ;) , but if you wanted Castrol oil I know we can happily order some in for you.

However in order to give you some info on oils/brands, try checking out http://scooterunderground.ca/knowledge/ ... oil101.htm there is a good breakdown of oil types there.

Putoline is a good brand too

If brand is important

Mine uses Castrol but then again all branded oil should be good otherwise it wont be on the shelves.

I think this is the same for fuel, they have strict rules before it is sold to the public, so BP is no better than Shell etc.

Does it matter? Almost all brands have good antisludge and antiwear additives.

Since the PCX has a dry clutch, you do not need to use motorcycle-specific oil.

10w30 is good for most climates, 10w40 is better for warmer climates and will work properly down to freezing temperatures. 0w30/0w40 will be okay, but do not rev your bike hard until it's warmed up. I HIGHLY recommend synthetic -- any synthetic is far, far better than any conventional.

I personally use Mobil1 oil, but again, it doesn't matter.

Honda only manufacture and source from their supply chain.

Dealers are franchisees.

Oil is a long way down on the list of considerations unless it's sponsored

Most dealers that offer servicing probably buy their oil by 50 gallon drum as base oil
