PCX on wet floor

Post by rafta182 »

Hey guys, I'm looking to buy a honda pcx and I wanted to know how does it work on the rain, is it stable enough? how about the brakes? Thank you guys!

I'm new into scooters and yesterday I was practicing with a really old honda 125cc but it was huge and I think the weight of it was like 235 kilograms wich is a lot to me (small guy, wight 63 kilograms).
I guess with the pcx I will feel better since it doesn't weight that much!

Its perfectly OK in the rain.
Some people have complained about lack of grip with the original fitment IRC tyres in the wet, but I never had a problem with them.

I think we just have too much oil on the roads here. I drove once down the road and it was fine but when I crossed a highway you could feel the back slide a bit.

the PCX handles fine in the rain with normal careful rain riding even with the IRC tires in my experience.

Using both standards of units?

i suppose the only issue with the PCX in rain is that it has a low flood limit. if there is standing water up to or above the swingarm/engine from a flash flood, etc, the PCX will flood its engine because the air intake is rather low on this bike.

hahaha great! Thank you all for your answers!! If everything goes as planned I will buy my pcx next month!! Can't wait!!! As a first time scooter rider I feel a little bit nervous but well, I guess it's like everything else in life, the practice makes the master!

Cheers

riding in the rain is fine so long as you are sensible, less lean, more braking time etc.

I have the original IRC and ride fine in all weather, I think my mental state stops me from leaning like I use to on a sports bike.

I've been riding it with stock tires (with over 5000 km on them) in rain, at 80 kph on a highway intersection curve without problems...

If you skid or come off in the rain you can't blame the bike of tires. I commute in all conditions with the stock irc tires and as mentioned earlier just take corners slower.

modern motorcycle tires are amazing in the wet compared to years past. you can ride pretty aggressively on them in the wet if you are an experienced rider. however, i dont push the limits and ride extra careful in the wet and would recommend others do the same, especially inexperienced riders.

it only takes one manhole cover or other unexpected slick surface to take you down and end up asphalt surfing on your butt! please always ride ATGATT!
