Added Yumanashi’s new variator & Dr Pulley sliders (2022 PCX 160)

Post by Emax22 »

Hello, I wanted to offer some feedback on Yumanashi’s performance variator kit, specifically designed for the 2021 - 2024 PCX 125 & PCX 160 & ADV 160. It is of similar size to the larger stock variator & drive face found on the 2021 + model, it is 126.7mm.

I installed it on my US spec 2022 Honda PCX (156.9cc). The kit comes standard with 6X 10 gram rollers. I suspected this would be too light, but I tried it out anyways. It was nearly over revving the engine, causing the bike to make an unpleasant sound and vibration when accelerating. I tested it out in the highway. Originally my PCX, on a flat stretch of highway (not drafting) tucked down, would do 69 mph. With the kit, I hit 73 mph. Acceleration felt slightly better.

I added 13 gram Dr pulley sliders. This made my engine sound and run smoother. Acceleration felt improved, vs stock and vs 10 gram rollers. Top speed, on the same stretch of highway was now 76 mph. Speeds are all according to the speedo. The bike is much more competent on my occasional highway rides now. I also have Givi’s mid sized windshield, along with hand guards and side wind guards. I’m going to add a few pictures. The 2nd image is of the Yumanashi kit with 10 gram rollers. The 1st image is of the stock variator with the oem rollers, (19 gram iirc.)
