checking brake wear

Post by cotetoi »

Hey guys,
I bought my Forza with 24,000 km. I have no info on the brakes. The records I got with bike don't say anything about the brake pads, so, I can only assume they are the originals. I checked the manual, but it doesn't exactly say how to check brake wear except to do it from underneath . But how do you elevate the wheels enough to get a look at the brake pads?
I am stumped. If anyone has suggestions I am all ears.
Jay.

i have 180,000 km on my Forza. The only reliable method of checking the brakes I have found is to remove the muffler and remove the caliper. This is stupid I agree. Some say they can see the pads on the bike but my eyesight has never been good enough.

The front brake pads can be checked quite easily but the rear brake pads are almost impossible to check without taking off the silencer and inspecting the whole caliper.

Thanks guys. I suspected as much. No easier way to do it. I guess I better have the pads handy, no need to do the work twice if the pads are worn.
