Valve clearance done!

Post by Martin J »

I'm having to self isolate, due to my daughter catching covid, so I'm using the time wisely.
My PCX 125 has just hit 5000 miles, so I thought it was about time I bit the bullet and got the feeler gauge out.
Stripping the plastics was time consuming, but I didn't want to snap any fixings, I found that once all the screws and plastic plugs were out there was always one I'd missed. 😳
The actual job of valve checking is quick and easy once the head is exposed, on my 2018 model the camshaft has a mark on the end to set top dead centre. Both valves were slightly tight, but only by about an eighth of a turn of the adjuster. I'm sure they would have lasted another 5000 miles, but better safe than sorry. :D
