100,000 mile scooters

Post by davenowherejones »

I went for a ride today and the odometer on my 2014 Honda Forza Canadian scooter went over 160,934 km or 100,000 miles.

I am the third or 4th owner of my scooter. The first owner crashed it when it was pretty new. It had under 1000 km on it. The government insurance company wrote it off and it was sold to a backyard rebuilder. He put about 500 km on it testing it out.

I bought it from him or his company or ??? (I did not ask too many questions because of the price & location)

It had 1450 km on it at MY first turn of the key. So I need to get to 162,383 km for ME to have ridden it 100,000 miles. That may happen soon or it may not.

I rode to Merritt, BC today. The Larson Hill on the Coquihalla Highway 5 was covered in forest fire smoke. You could see the ash & cinders blowing around on the highway like snow.

There was a 40 foot trailer & highway tractor parked in the ditch. The driver probably fell asleep.

There was a fuel tanker b-train with its brakes smoking very badly on the big hill. I pulled over and let the truck get far away from me.

I am bankrupt, broke and out of money. I had a $10 celebration supper at A&W before I got home. I need to mow a few lawns tomorrow, I hope the people have some money this time.

Hard to picture a 300cc Forza getting 100,000 miles on it! Congratulations and keep on scooting.

I went to Richmond IKEA, they would not take Canadian cash for my lunch, credit cards only, debit? No Swedish Meatballs today.

I went to Vancouver airport to watch planes. I left my favourite Nalgene water bottle on a bench, seriously annoyed.

Traffic was bad everywhere. People doing 150% of the speed limit. The Forza cannot keep up with the rich people.

I hate Vancouver.

I was at Hunter Creek Rest Area when my 2014 Honda Forza 300 clicked over to 100,000 miles (160,934 km)

My next milestone is 162,384 when I will have ridden the Forza 100,000 miles. Bought used at 1450 km.

The belts are rated for 25,600 km and that is when I have changed them.

I ride in areas with bears so I like to stay close to the specs.

Some of the belts I have removed have looked brand new while others were definitely trash.

4 belts would be 40,000 km per belt. I guess it could be done but I ride long distances. It is a long way between towns some days. A lot of areas have no cell service.

Do you use strictly OEM belts or have you tried some of the cheaper ones. I am at 15K and probably should look at changing mine... Thanks

I have used all kinds of belts. It is real hit and miss as to which ones work best. I don't know.

I will change my belt next time I change the rear tire which should be soon.

I am not a mechanic but some days I get things right after a few tries. I have too many serious head injuries and I am dyslexic. I make a lot of mistakes.

Some things you are better off using the OEM
I believe drive belts are one of them.
Got 30k on mine, had the belt cover off to add some bling, belt still good

Drive belts vary a lot.

A Chinese belt is $45 in Canada
A Thailand belt is $88 in Canada
A Honda Canada OEM drive belt is $214

It is probably the exact same belt with different packaging, who knows?

I bet belts in Thailand are substantially cheaper than here.

My current belt has 33,600 km on it I think.

I have used Honda OEM belts on my Silver Wing but the price of drive belts (OEM) has gone through the roof so I was wondering with the less HP on the Forza if a cheaper belt might suffice? I am seeing 40 bucks for an eBay belt and nearly 200$ for a Honda belt with both having the exact same numbers on them. Confused.
