New theme

Post by maddiedog »

Hiya everyone!

The forum somehow got all out of whack, so I had to rebuild from backup. When I did so, I updated to the latest version with a new theme, hence everything looking different.

If you notice anything not working, please let me know so I can fix it!!

Cheers, and safe riding! 8)

I was having some issues with the theme and had to manually clear caches a few times. Every time that would happen, it would have logged you out.

I think I'm done and that issue should be cleared up now. Let me know if not!

When I visit the forum I use the menu and click on "Unread posts" so far so good. The problem I have then I can't see from which scooter group the new postings are from for example:
HONDA PCX, HONDA FORZA 300 and HONDA ADV150 all have many the same sub menu's like:
General, Technical Help and Accessories but the "How-To" is markt by scooter like:
PCX How-To, Forza How-To and ADV150 How-To
Is it possible to do this for the other menu's so you can see the difference in scooter when somebody clicks on "Unread posts"?

One more question how do I see if there are unread postings on the "Board index", should there be a difference in circle?

Thanks for the feedback Old Scoot. I think I updated the forum headers to make the Unread Posts more usable.

On the Board Index, blue circle means no unread in that forum and green circle means there's unread in that forum. It's a subtle difference.

That explains a lot. I've had trouble logging in and lines of script at the opening of the forum.

Thanks for fixing. Everyone complains about a format change and eventually gets used to it. TBH the forum did need it even before this.

Very subtle, I have to look very hard to even notice the difference. Is it possible to make the difference more visible? maybe red instead of green? or a full colored circle?

Maddiedog,

Great job on the forum page revision!

It's a totally new experience . . .. :geek:

Yet, it's easy to see the similarities to the old format so navigating throughout is intuitive. :D

I added a little star to any unread topic too. I think that should help.

I'm really not fond of the new theme, but I can (mostly) live with it. The biggest issue stems from the way I read the Forum: I go through and right-click open in new tab any unread topics of interest, then I click on "mark topics read". I can then peruse each topic in its own tab.
The "mark topics read" button was immediately accessible, but has now been relegated to the hamburger menu at the upper right, which means I have to scroll back up and open that menu first -- a lot less convenient than it used to be. Any chance you can move that option back to the main layer?

I used to easily see if there were any new topics or posts under Forza 300 section, but I can't find a way to do that now, nothing PCX related interests me as I have a Forza...! Any ideas...?

Before when viewing Forza 300 section could see on the right side the last post's username and date ...

index.php

Shows all the sections with unread stars and last post username and date/time?

Not a fan of theme changes generally, but will doubtless get used to it in time.

Taking a bit of getting used to.

Biggest difficulty for me is the brightness/whiteness of it all - it is giving me a lot of eye strain. :(

It would be nice if individuals could select a different colour scheme - say with more contrasting colours?

I was looking at this on my phone Chrome browser, and in mobile version of forum it does not show those details, but I selected Desktop Site on my phone browser now and can see it, a bit awkward, need to zoom in, but better than not having it at all...., cheers.

I thought it was my computer messing up when I first opened this new format. I started checking my setting and seeing if my security reported a virus or something.
Thanks for all your work on this. I know how it is to rebuild something of this nature after a crash.

It works for me. :D
