The cover is still just hiding the corrosion underneath, as standard

I have managed to wire wheel all the corrosion off the casing.
I'm gonna take the rear wheel out tomorrow and wire wheel the casing there, waxoyl it and hope it doesn't catch fire

The corrosion is surface only. No issues.

Bull - blame the environment. All aluminum corrodes unless protected. Cover in clear coat, anodize, etc.
You keep on saying "Bad Engineering, a Design Flaw, yada yada yada "
And then post how many Km's your bike has travelled.
You can't have it both ways.
If it bothers you, fix it.

I have decided on Silver VHT paint for the casing, as Waxoyl says Max Temp 50 degrees
It looks OK, weather it will make any difference I don't know
