New Kymco scooters. What do you guys think?

There are a few, but the one I'm looking at is the KRV. It weighs about the same as a PCX, the engine is 25cc bigger, got disk brakes front and rear. But what I find most interesting is the independent swingarm. Looks cool to me. Better handling is what they promise, but easier rear tyre change is what I'm thinking, am I wrong?

I like this. I like the attention to detail by putting on a complete internal rear fender. So many of the manufacturers just leave the rear tire exposed to where crap can get all over the back of the bike if you’re riding through some rainy muddy weather for an hour or two… I do also like the idea of the rear swingarm, and again kudos for the rear disc brake, Honda still has a terrible problem ignoring those for many markets.

Looks like the old up-right, step-thru Agility, with a swing-arm and without a CVT? So, IS it a scooter if there is no CVT in there - or a motorcycle with panels?
Certainly not low & swoopy like a PCX....but might finally have a decent rear suspension.
Don't think it's slated for N. America.

My Honda Forza has that too

The Forza has rear disc breaks

Nobody’s talking about your forza , we’re talking about 175 cc bike-the blue one above.

USA get the AK 550. https://kymcousa.com/2021-scooters/2021-ak-550/
The KRV is called the mini AK 550, maybe you'll get it too.

The AK 550 page here https://kymcousa.com/2021-scooters/2021-ak-550/ says Transmission CVT Automatic, so the KRV should have CVT too

There will be a CVT, so two belts to change.
This scooter might appeal to the gullible.

A short belt, then the big one?
With roller weights and a clutch in there?
Weird.

All right, now that I've just seen how you remove the rear wheel off a Yamaha Tmax on Youtube, I guess the ease of rear wheel removal is a bit harder as you need a tool to adjust the outer belt tension. So I'm sticking with a scooter with conventional belt..

Someday . . . someday what makes us laugh will make us cry.

Any day on any scooter is better than a day at work! Or is it? Many a truth is said in jest . . .. :geek:

And yes . . . Kymco does make Mobility Scooters. But I think not for me. :o o_O :?

I'd rather go out with a grin. ;)

Looks nice and everything but, I dont know how kymco is doing in The US, but in Chile only one dealership has the brand representation, and spare parts are quite expensive.

Here in Germany at least in my area and sorroundings, I never saw a kymco scooter. Everybody uses piaggio/vespa scooters and honda. So, I think it would be not a good idea to have one. May e in Spain, france o
Or italy.

I wouldnt reccomend to buy something with poor local aftermarket available and poor post sales support

It got a sight glass, for coolant level, apparently.

I wonder why sight glasses for engine oil are very rare or non-existent in scooters. Cost more than the dipsticks? Fail more often? I actually have never seen a scooter with a sight glass.

Yamaha Zuma 125 has the oil dipstick . . ..

Yamaha XMax 300 has the sight glass . . ..

TBH I prefer a sight glass. Even if you put the machine on the center stand you still have to make sure it's on level ground. A mirror can come in handy if it's not easily visible just standing up looking down and is somewhat hidden by panels etc . . ..

Speaking of not being level this pic will make you dizzy.

o_O Luckily the boats are going down the slope otherwise they would have a huge problem going up that slope that would be almost impossible ;)

Burgman 400 had a sight glass - and to make it really fun - you must have the scooter off of all stands and hold the 489lb scooter level with one hand while you kneel in a puddle to check the little window.
Some buy mirrors on a stick - some use monkeys on a stick.
Smart people sell it and buy a Forza, or a Liberty.

I've never had a dipstick 'fail'.....but windows have developed leaks.

PS: as for Kymcos - check Kymcousa.com for the list of recalls. Mine had one during its 10 year model run. Bring it in and they'll give the fuel line clamp another 1.5 turns.
