Michelin City Grip deal thoughts?

I have an opportunity to pick up a Michelin city grip rear tire from a local shop installed for $50 (if I bring in the wheel). My question and hesitation is that the tire is dated mid 2016 as a manufacture date. Should I pass or am I ok to use this tire? Thoughts?

New michelins are on sale for £30-35 here in the UK so I would expect less in the US - seems very old stock circa '16.

How much more would a "fresh" tire cost ? Would you likely wear it out in a few years? If no..... I'd get a new one.

If you're going to do 10,000 miles in the next year or two, go for it.

I say totally pass, my bike 2016 had original Dunlop tires until early this year and there appeared fine cracks on it even it had almost half threads after 10k km, it was also very hard and very slippery, and skiding on occasions, I strongly recommend only buying one year old tires at most - not worth it...

Thanks. Gonna pass on this. I appreciate all the feedback. That was the way I was leaning anyway. Enjoy the ride this week. Gonna warm up a bit in the Midwest.
