Post by bonjo »

Hi all,

Not sure whats the cause for this noice, happens when accelerating only, also the motor seems to have less power at pickup.

Has anyone had the same issue? any solutions?

Appreciate your help on this matter thanks.

Sounds like a leaky exhaust header gasket.
Or belt slap.
How many miles on the belt?
Any aftermarket parts fitted?
How does it sound with the cover on?
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

The bike had been left aside for 8months.
Didint look like belt slaps as the sound happens only in high RPMS

How many miles on the belt?
Not sure about 2000-5000Km

Any aftermarket parts fitted?
Exhaust is after market.

How does it sound with the cover on?
Same and can be heard by 100feet apart while passing by.

Few other tips i got was.
Clogged fuel pump.
Clutch spring issue.

Seems like there excessive belt play on acceleration, but not the cause of the rattle noise. Check rollers use steth to see if noise coming from clutch housing or variator.. A new belt wouldn't hurt as a starter.

Header gasket fitted OK ? It sure sounds like a header/pipe leak.
