YSS Shock Absorbers

Post by TheDoors »

Hi all,
I would like to replace the old original Shock absorbers of my Pcx125 with the YSS tb222-315p-07-x, do you have any positive experience with this entry level model?

https://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/YSS-Coilover ... 3686784546

Additionally as strongly advised in other threads, I will replace front fork oil with a full synt 20w oil.

Thanks in advance for your reply,
Adrian

Hello Adrian,

I am very curious about your experiences when you have mounted the new shock absorbers.

I had these on my 150. They were the most inexpensive YSS at the time. Pictures and discussion in my build thread. They were a substantial improvement.

Hi Erik,
I expect the delivery in a couple of weeks, should not take longer, I will be glad to share the results with you.

In the end I ordered from Brixiamoto in Italy which had a slightly better price :)

Regards,
Adrian

Waiting for Epsilon hurricane I've give it a go, cleaning engine bay and changing the shock absorbers.. very smooth process except the removal of pre fitted absorber's metal bushing guides. As you can see from pics old units has no netal guides, which are directly biuld on the top frame mounting points.

More stiff and under control experience, sensation are very Positive, but remain to check spring preload set and replace fork oil for a better balancement.

My pleasure,
I will give you all an update in the next days with a more extensive ride test and eventually the Fork oil change too.

Also, could I just spray paint the rusted frame points or I should use a rust converter?

TIA,
Adrian

Paint after removing the rust, either by hand or using the convertor.

Looks like an emulsion.

What weight fork oil did you use?

It's a Castrol fork oil 15w mineral based and probably I will change it again in few months when I will paint the forks too whch seems to need attention.

Today I will brush and sand the rusted frame points and treat with some rust converter before painting and asap clean the throttle body and the injector :)

Small delay again due to weather conditions.. throttle body and injector cleaned with Wynns Carb cleaner and Frame treated with rust converter.

Excellent results in terms of engine response, now giving gas has an immediate response despite the fact it was not too dirty tbh.

Front fork now are more balanced with the rear Yss shock absorbers set on the low spring rate, but remain much more stiff than the original, so keep it in mind if you are considering this way. The only possibility is in a few miles could get a bit softer, I will let ya know.

Has a been a long journey, but despite few difficulties related to the lack of few tools, has been a real pleasure to play with it and very straight forward process for an inexperienced like me.
