I just got the kind of "Battery Tender" you plug into an outlet.

It's "color coded" so you can tell what stage the battery is at while it's charging.

It gets to 80% pretty quick but takes a while to get to 100%.

Maybe check into getting a regular "Battery Tender" you plug in?

I've had good luck with mine . . ..

my lithium battery charger has a big sticker on it that says do not use it for anything except lithium batteries. It Is not a conventional charging profile. Maybe that’s the problem.

I didn't realise that the battery on a pcx was lithium ...is that standard or an upgrade ?

On page 8-29 of my XMax Owner's Manual it says that the XMax comes equiped with a Valve Regulated Lead Acid Battery (VLRA). It gives other charging information too and a "Notice".

My 2017 PCX manual said it took a GTZ8V battery which is a Honda Part number. Here's a web site that gives the specifics.

https://www.carpimoto.it/en-US/48784_GT ... -GTZ8V.htm

I'm not sure if the PCX batteries vary for different model years or not.

The Honda Owner's manual gives the battery info on the specifications chart.

All the PCX batteries, no matter what years, are standard conventional lead acid batteries. The VRLA aspect is just the way it vents . Aftermarket batteries can be lithium, But the stock battery is not. I use a shorai lithium in my Xmax, same size as PCX.

I cant understand why a lithium battery requires a specific lithium charger yet the bike doesn't need any adaptation - its charging a lithium battery from the same circuitry as a lead acid battery ?

Good luck with your new maintainers.

Now that you mention it I think I remember you saying you had problems with your XMax battery in the past and hence replaced it.

Keep us posted on how the new stuff is doing! :D

Some lead acid chargers have other features that are bad for lithium batteries. Like desulphating feature of some, of the Lead acid battery chargers, is bad for Lithium batteries.

Be cheaper not bothering with the maintainers and swapping the batteries if required.
I've never used battery maintainers/trickle chargers and never will.
Scooter sits unused for months at a time in winter and come spring fires up first time.
Don't think I've ever had to replace a battery in a Japanese brand bike.
