Anybody Riding?

Post by riding@100mpg »

went out for a short ride again today, temps in the upper 40's in upstate NY and good sun all day. I know the tall windshield I purchased last fall was a great choice. hoping to hear stories of big travels out there in those warmer climates. spring is here!

Yup . . .. :D

I did about 40 miles today on my XMax. Stayed extra alert. People have a lot on their minds these days.

It was quite windy and still cool. Typical for March. The sun was the key to the enjoyment. 8)

Lot's of people out walking. Less cars parked by the usual restaurants or bars.

Was able to get out for about an hour and half. Sun felt good but I could feel the cold a bit on the legs. Couldn't resist getting out there though. Beautiful day.

When it's not raining in San Francisco, I'm using my PCX. Yesterday groceries, trip to the vet for food for an older cat, and hardware store. Very useful little machine.

I went out yesterday in mid 40's temps, and froze! I have been out several times this year on my motorcycle, but that has a full fairing, heated grips and heated seat. Even with a warm jacket and full face helmet I was freezing. I made the mistake of not wearing winter gloves as well. So I was only out for 20 minutes and 12 miles, but it was fun to get the scooter out on the streets again. FWIW, I wonder how Stabil affects gas mileage. I had added Stabil when I put the PCX away for the winter, and this was the first ride since then. The gauge showed that I was only getting about 77 mpg, far lower than what I got all last summer and fall. Of course, the ride was short and it did include a few minutes of warm up.

What taller windscreen do you use? Does it go on in addition to the little stock screen, or instead of the stock screen? I think I will have to do something since it seems odd that using my scooter might end up being a lot less than when I can use my motorcycle unless I get some protection from the wind.

I have a Givi tall windshield on mine, but it is the older version of PCX. Hopefully they did not change the design much for newer machines. My windshield has extra width for hands, though I still wear gloves. Winter gloves would be advisable until the temps go up. Keep them under your seat if you decide not to wear them when you first start out. That way you can switch if you need to. I have a tail box that I keep my helmet and extra riding gear in, such as sunglasses, heavier gloves, and my brake lock.

UM and I went for a 20 mile cruise along the beach front and home again this morning. 75 and sunny. A bit breezy but it was nice being able to get out and not be near folks either - we can chat using our Sena bluetooth thingys! :P

Publix supermarket just round the corner is now reserving 7 to 8 am on Tuesdays and Wednesdays for over 65s, so looks like we can get TP next week!! :D :D

I have a National Midsize screen on mine. Big difference in colder weather and bug filled summer rides. I also improved my MPG when I put it on.

I took my bike out today for a short but glorious ride. It is 81°F and a light breeze. I probably rode for 1.5 hours and it was great. Yesterday I took it out as well, mostly to get the tires checked and aired, and to put some fresh gas in it. Then I ran it at 45 mph for a while to make sure everything was running the way it should. Thirty minutes into the ride and the camera battery was dead, so I rode home, swapped cameras and went back out. 15 minutes later that camera battery was dead, so I went home and parked the bike.

I charged everything up over night, including the bike battery, and I am happy to report that everything was ready to go today.

On a side note, it looks like the pollen is about to hit us hard. It does this every year but it seems early this year for some reason. Everything is about to get a thick coating of green/yellow crud! Ugh! Even my eyes are getting it. It will be like a haze soon.

Hi, I also have a 2019. It seemed quite a while went by before I saw a screen offered for the current model. I finally found a Givi from Rev Zilla. It completely replaces the current “ screen” if you are interested I could probably find the part numbers somewhere!

I live just north of you in southern Wisconsin but I’ve been riding all year in Florida". Just returned but too cold for me just yet.

Just got back from a great 42 mile ride. We went inland from the coast.

Everywhere was quiet and now we are back home isolating again! :)

A rare moment for me . . . no riding today at all. The rain/snow, rain mix started around mid-morning and is still going on now.

Stayed inside watching all the news . . ..

The damn virus statistics multiply faster than rabbits. I don't think a number of people truly realize how devious this COVID-19 is. :?

Being young doesn't make you impervious.

I'll continue to ride but I won't be making any stops anywhere. Just getting out for a bit will do nicely. 8)

I'm part of the group that the virus will hammer but I still remember being young and the urgency associated with being so.

Yup.
Took the lil' PCX up the Great Highway in San Francisco to the overlook above the Cliff House and watched the sun sink into the Pacific. Simply beautiful!
Back home thru Golden Gate Park...actually spotted a coyote on his evening rounds. I wished him good hunting.

My daughter lives in San Fan, and she is working from home right now. I really have to wonder how she is doing it considering that she has a 2 year old running around.

Finally got out for a day ride. Southern part of Vancouver Island, pictures are from the Port Renfrew area. If one can navigate the divots in the road it is a beautiful ride. Oddly there was hardly any traffic.
