When It's Too Cold to Ride . . .

Post by Old Grinner »

Think of past journeys on lightly traveled roads in the warm sunny days of Summer. :D

If you look to the left of the second picture you can see the original road. Obviously it was a drought condition. When the reservoir is full it's submerged in the lower elevations further upstream. Years ago the state decided to build a dam and as a result the highway had to be relocated.

Here's more pics of the remaining old road (Rt. 8 in Connecticut) exposed and shown in the previous post. What used to be a stream before the "dam" eventually became the reservoir. This pic was also taken during a dry season in 2008. o_O

Don't go too fast on that road. It kind of runs out! Oops!

It's snowing here in Missouri tonight and tomorrow so no riding for several days now. We are supposed to get from 3 to 8" in the next 12 hours. I guess I'll break out the snow shovel for the second time this winter.
Ride fast and keep it between the fences!

What! No snow here in Atlanta yet. I think the really bad stuff gets diverted by the mountains and ends up pounding Tennessee instead of us. I'm OK with that.

Icy here with freezing rain/rain . . ..

Looks like we got about an inch of slush last night.

Not venturing out on the scooter today. I feel sorry for those folks who had to commute to work early.
