compact battery boosters

I had thought about buying a 18,000 milli-ampere compact 12 volt booster as insurance with my 2014 Genesis. I'm thinking that that is a momentary boost of 800 amperes
(or what most car batteries put out).

Here is my question: Can these things be used safely with batteries as small as scooter batteries ?

No reason why not. When it's hooked up, it's in parallel with the battery, which means that the starting amperage does not go *through* the battery. For the same reason, there would be no issue with hooking up a car battery -- so long as the car engine isn't running.

I have one of those, and I have used it once on my wife's bike before we purchased a new battery, and multiple times on my lawn tractor before replacing its battery. It works, and it didn't hurt either of the charging circuits. I think they come with a builtin capacitor for starting cars, and contact points for charging other items, such a USB devices.
