Glad I rode!

Post by fish »

Cold, windy and spitting rain.
Once I'm dressed for the cold and moving out of the city onto country roads - I'm always glad I didn't stay home! (warm & dry)

Beans and corn have been cut, and saw some fields of winter wheat planted.
Cows were grazing and wood smoke was in the air!

Deer are very active this time of year. Saw several here at the reservoir - but were not an issue.

Nor was my old buddy the ape. (this 17 yr old mural is in the alley behind my coffee shop - recently retouched/repaired by the artist. Sadly many of the small jungle animals were lost.)

A good day riding.

Most excellent . . . again!

Every picture tells a story. :geek:

BTW sometimes I take cinnamon to warm up. You can put it in your coffee or hot chocolate etc . . ..

It also has a host of other health benefits. Too many to list but you can get it in capsule form also.

I ran both bikes today, two twenty milers, to charge up the batteries and keep everything fresh. Really windy despite the sun. Temps around 50 F.. Not bad but that damn wind seems to be quite regular now. Attributable to Global Warming perhaps? I dunno but it does keep me on my toes. Counter leaning and lane position is key . . ..

A couple of more pics from my scooter ride yesterday. Notice the weird clouds . . . like they were lined up in formation or something. Sorry no camera onboard today. But glad I rode also! :D

The cold is starting to shove it's way south now. I'm wondering how many good riding days are left this year. Tomorrow night it is suppose to drop down into the 20's....and it will be raining before that. Not a good combination.

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn

Luckily, I work outside... So I have to dress for the outside anyway. Dressing for the PCX ensures I'm nice and toasty all day long.

Regular shirt and underwear.
Two layers of thermal shirts and pants.
Sweatshirt + down jacket & jeans.
Balaclava face mask.
Ski gloves with thinsulate lining.
Two pair of socks with composite toe boots (gotta be warmer than steel toes!! .... never actually had steel toes, tho)

I can ride below freezing easily with this. 29 degrees would be no problem, but to be safe I'll probly put a 3rd layers of thermals on to be safe with wind chill around 20 degrees.

I used to ride until the temps dropped below 55 or 50 at the coldest. Then one day I decided I'd layer up to see how could I could really handle it. Doesn't take that many extra layers from what I'm already wearing... Really just a couple more minutes in the morning, but I'm warmer (more comfortable) all day long.

I keep imagining that little kid in 'The Christmas Story'. The mother dressed him in so many layers that he couldn't put his arms down.
...BUT HE WAS WARM.
