New User - Look What I Discovered!

Hi I decided to register after coming across this website loads when googling certain things about the PCX....
I actually have two PCX's one red and one Black the black one is new having had just 3000 miles on the clock and the red one has just under 50.000.
My partner does delivery driving so that just clocks up the milage and I just gave her my new black one as she uses it more.
After swapping bikes I could not believe she has been driving it for so long without complaining.
The steering on the bike seemed to be all off... She had had two minor accidents with that bike but it went to the garage after and I assumed it was all fixed.
I decided to take the bike apart and to my shock and horror the yoke/fork was bent, and the light cockpit frame was all bent and the garage had used cable ties to hold the front light in place with all the screw holes broken in it...
Anyway I ordered all the parts and decided to give it a good overhaul and clean after 50.000 as well.
Tomorrow I will do a valve clearance and so far the break pads wheel bearings, have been replaced.
I've ordered all the parts in so the front fork, bracket headlight will be replaced as well. In the Black new PCX I have a polini 9 roller variater and a polini adjustable clutch so the clutch from that one will go into this pcx with white 2000 rpm clutch springs a malossi contra spring and a malossi multivar 2000 with 10 gram rollers... Well so far for my introduction please find an attachment of the progress of the bike so far..

Welcome to the forum. Where are you located? Is it 50000 US miles?
Can you talk about what maintenance and repairs have been performed on that bike?

What was her delivery pattern?

I would warn her about using that repair shop again! Unbelievable! Tie wraps (cable ties)!! Come on now. Those should only be used for wiring bundles...except that I have my Bad Boy Air Horn tie wrapped in place to keep it from rattling behind the dash board. Otherwise, nope. Those people were idiots and should not be in business. If they fix anything under an insurance claim they should be reported for fraud.

Once again, please go into your profile and add your general location. I am guessing that you do not live in the United States, probably the UK, so it would help us to help you better if we knew your country at least, possibly even your region within it.

By the way, how are the panels that came on it? If they are missing screws etc. You may have to consider ordering a bunch of those too.

I'm from the UK so yes the same miles not Kilometers. As for the maintenance on the bike I will post an update after this answer but thus far I have replaced the bracket on the front, the headlight... New city grip tires... new (Second hand refurb) yoke and fork new side panel (Still awaiting this from Thailand) new brake pads front and bac, new right hand foot rest frame new cockpit cover new petrol cover plastic as mentioned before Malossi multivar 2000 variator with new 10gram rollers. New race clutch bell, new clutch(ish) new clutch springs new clutch contra spring for the rest new oil and other liquids... Valve check and I think thats about it....

You got some dodge garages here in the UK (East London) as for the cable ties they could have snapped and the headlight would have droppen on the road.... The panels are still coming from thailand but my experience is that they're genuine honda parts... I am from the UK Essex to be exact just outside London I will update this in my profile if I can find where...

Yeah you can call me Pat no worries... and yeah you can rename this post to whatever you fancy I'm just getting used to PHPBB (Again) and it sort of reminds me why I always chose MyBB Over PHPBB as it's a bit fiddly and getting used to (But hey it's the content and the members that make a site not the tool)

OK So here is my update as mentioned above... first of all let me stress that in the UK and the rest of Europe there are different rules restricting you to drive 150cc motorbikes without a full motorcycle license. The maximum you can drive in the UK is 125cc with a compulsory basic training certificate and a red L plate on the bike. Anything above that you'll need to take a full driving test for both theory and practical - very costly and time consuming. The reason I'm telling you this is because all the pictures that are shown here are for the 125cc model (the 150 is not relevant in Europe as such so certain things may vary).
After my original post I have pretty much done everything and the bike is almost back together. The engine is working.
I first removed the front (Headlight) frame that was completely bent and unusable and replaced it. I took the fork and yoke out after I took off the steering and put the new head sport bearings in with grease and placed the refurbed fork and yoke in there. After that I fitted a second hand headlight with all the plastic in tact and screw holes and used bolts again to fasten it the way its supposed to. After this I cut the kill switch wire from the side stand and made an electronic bypass and put a new wire in to go under the seat and wired new light next to the alarm light inside the cockpit. The reason for the last bit is that we have a serious problem with bike theft in the UK including armed bike thefts and robberies so I decided to make a little IOT kill switch project out of it and already wired the bike so I can install my own tracking device later under the seat when done. Anyway back to the bike repair. I noticed that the plastic on the right foot rest did not want to lineup as supposed to and noticed that the frame was bent and damaged so I ordered that in and replaced that as well. For the mechanical part I fitted the clutch and variator drive belt and new clutch bell. I did so many things basically that my whole explanation becomes a bit of a jumping from one thing to the next - a jibber jabber episode, but the bottom line is that all broken parts have been fixed. Parts have been improved where possible and service has been done where necessary...And I almost forgot, I found the exhaust looking a bit like a rusty pipe in comparison to all the work I had done and how clean the bike looked so I upgraded that as well. Let me just post some picture and see what you guys think. The last pictures are recent. I'm waiting for plastic to finish the bike off. Pat

WHAT A LOT OF WORK! Very nice job. It appears that you are working outside - doing that level of work without a garage is pretty amazing to me.

You clearly have a great grip on fixing these things. I'm sure you will have much to offer the group. Welcome aboard!

Got no choice I don't have a garage... bit of a pain specially when it starts raining as I have to move all inside and cover the scooter... But hey as long as I have fun. For me it's not so much the cost of repairing as the fun I have doing it and the result can be very satisfying (Providing it works) I walk straight from the kitchen into the back garden so it's not all that bad as I'm in my own privacy and I live in a close.... As for your map link very nice but how do I add myself? There is no obvious way.

The bike is really looking good now, and red is a really nice color (I have two 2013 models, both the same nice red color. :-) You would just have to hope that it isn't too much of a temptation for thieves. (I don't believe either of mine would last long in London before it would be stolen; I suspect that you have the same worry.)

If you join the PCX User Honda PCX 125 Owners Club UK on Facebook there are loads of PCX users from all over the country on there... Kent included As for meeting up we'll see as Winter is looming and it will be Xmas before you know it...

One of the reasons we moved out of London... We live in a small village now and the bikes are stored in the back garden with locks and alarms over night (Yes I do have a driveway but again a lot of thieves scout this area and they tried to steal it already 2 times from the front of the house... I also have CCTV around the house now Shame guns are illegal in the UK)

Don’t start the Americans off with a half baked comment. Only firearms held illegally in the UK are illegal. Firearms held legally in the UK by civilians are legal.

I know that thieves can cut locks, but what about those disc locks with built in alarms? I am just thinking about options. Hmmm...110 volt wires connected to the bike with the ground being a mat under the bike that someone would have to stand on if they wanted to cut the locks on the bike? Yep, that should do it.

Two PCX's, One has a tracker the other an alarm. Both have a disc lock and a chain tight around the back wheel to prevent bolt cutters. They're both covered and and are in the back garden over night which has CCTV so far so good - no problems... Just being very conscious about thieves now
