Newbie learning moment

Though I’d share what happened today. I took the PCX to my early morning yoga class, and when I went to leave, the bike wouldn’t start.

Instant panic started. I turned the key back and forth, put the kickstand up and down and up again. Nothing... then I saw the kill switch (that I never touch) and wondered if it somehow had moved enough to engage. I pressed it off as far as it would go.

My little bike sprang to life and down the road to work we went.

Valuable lesson learned. Check kill switch before panicking lol.

Not to sound like a know-it-all, but they teach you in Motorcycle Safety to always use the kill switch to turn off the bike, then the key. It creates muscle memory if your throttle sticks that you don’t panic and instinctively know what to do.

Thanks for the reminder. :)

What kill switch? My PCX doesn't have any.

On my PCX it’s located where the kill switch is on a motorcycle. I believe some PCX models have an idle switch instead.

Isn't the idle switch called an "idle/stop" switch??

If there is no way to turn the bike off aside from the key then you might have a problem if the bike gets away from you. When we had our accident the bikes continued to run until I walked over to each and pressed the kill switch. That is a lot easier than trying to get to the key when the bike is down.
