theres no oil leak and the colour of the metal in the break indicates it been broken for some time. can't see any cracks and its just had its 10,000 mile service. so i think it'll be alright - *crosses fingers*

You look fine. Mine broke the exact same way, and I rode on it for awhile before having the lower portion of the engine replaced under warranty. No oil loss whatsoever.

i don't like using the side stand but the potential cost of getting fixed i like even less. its out of warranty so i'll just manage without it. it can be a weight saving mod!

Exactly! I took mine off after Honda replaced the lower crankcase anyways, it allows me to corner tighter without the centerstand rubbing. ;)

Mine was exactly the same and happened out of warranty.
Honda offered to supply the parts free of charge if I paid the labour charge.
Labour estimate was roughly the same as the scooter was worth as a trade-in.

And here's a picture of what it looked like on my PCX:

It's a disappointing flaw. I've heard it happen to one other person on this forum, and the crack actually caused oil leakage. o_O
looks like there is no lubrication in that area

There wasn't from the factory. I lubed the replacement crankcase after I got it redone, but have since just removed the centerstand. Blah.
