Yes! Thank you for the clarification. :D
cessna151 wrote:I do have another suggestion... I would like a link at the top that will go straight to "My subscribed topics." Similar to "view your posts" except you only see the topics you subscribed to. That way i can always quickly check only the topics i'm currently interested in.
I don't currently use that functionality. Where is the link that you normally click for that so that I can copy-paste the code into the header?

Well, i thought it was harder to get to but it turns out it's just two clicks... User Control Panel»Manage Subscriptions. Although a link straight to it would be helpful i can see how it might not be worth it.
Funny, once there, they are called "watched topics" even though the link to add topics to the list says "subscribe topic."

Ok, new issue -- I'm adamatly opposed to editing other people's posts, but is anyone opposed to INTENSELY misleading posts be moved to the Drama and Bullcrap subforum?

The post that I am referencing that inspired this is here: http://hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=2&t=1359#p19556. No offense to this user, but his opinions are completely contradictory to Honda's recommendations and may result in new or non-mechanically inclined users making poor decisions.

I don't want to police the forums, but straight misinformation should be moved out of the public eye. Agree or disagree? o_O

I dont have an issue with it. If you edit the post, instead of changing the wording add a disclaimer that this goes against Honda's maintainence policies (in bold letters)

DISAGREE! He isn't breaking any rules. If you cross that line there is no going back. This will no longer be a place were we can freely express ourselves within the guidelines set forth for this forum. I will have no part of a forum moderated in such a way.

On a side note, anyone willing to blindly follow the advice of one random post without verification will get what they deserve.

I believe in freedom of opinions on forums, as long as there is no disrespect to posters. Most people will discredit someone's post if it has bad advice. Everyone should have or have access to an owners or service manual that tells it like it is. Nobody knows the bikes needs better than the guys that built it. There will always be bad advice & users that take it. My two favorites are the "ride it like you stole it" break in method & the use of car tires on scooters etc.

I read the post and the subsequent replies and I am not sure that it should be moved primarily because there is the opportunity for others to refute such wrong information in the same thread, such has been done in the case you refer to. I can understand the desire not to have new or non-mechanically inclined users be misread, but possibly such people (myself included as a new user) get what they deserve if they only read the one erroneous post.

My greater concern was the tone in which I perceived the thread was initially responded to. To begin a post with "You're an idiot," seems to go against one of the forum rules ... "This forum is designed to facilitate civil discussion among adults about scooters, specifically focusing around the Honda PCX. All members are expected to act as adults and treat each other as adults. This means no personal insults, flaming, or unnecessary criticism. You are expected to respect others and be treated respectfully at all times, regardless of your age, gender, race, preferences, or opinions." It may be just my opinion, but the initial response doesn't seem very 'civil', seemingly appears to be a 'personal insult' and doesn't come across as treating someone 'respectfully.'

Maddiedog, I fully respect and accept the mechanical/technical expertise you had to offer in the reply, but I was disappointed in the way it was put. Having said that, I also don't agree with Carpathian hawk's opinion that because he felt he was simply expressing his opinion, then he should be free to say whatever he wants. When it comes to technical/mechanical instruction, I'm not sure the "freedom of expression" is the wisest choice.

I also want you to know that apart from this one issue, I fully support your work here and am impressed with it, so please don't take my comments as being expressed in anger or anything like that. I am merely expressing it as a concern. Keep up the great work on the forum, I appreciate it!

I may have overreacted, and my tonality was a bit off. I'll apologize to the user.

I reacted how I did because I have PMs from two non-technical users where I'm having to try to explain to them what oil they should use after that thread. If people see something online, they immediately roll with it like it's truth unless it's loudly opposed.

I should add that I didn't, and won't change that post -- both my overly-enthusiastic response and the poor advise are still up. Cessna is right, I won't modify it, because that would be censorship.

Kramnala, thanks for pointing out what I did wrong. I should be held to the rules just like everyone else. ;)

Can location be a required field for new users profiles so we can see where everyone is from? Also I don't find adding photos very intuitive. Is there a sticky somewhere that covers max size and recommended dimensions?

In particular I'm noticing pics added are often way too wide so that reading threads with a pic in a page needs zooming in and out to compensate for small fonts on those pages.

Picture display size is a browser/platform issue.
I've found its fine on a PC with Linux or windows but problematic on my new fangled Android kit...

No, anonymity is something users should be allowed to have if they want it.

There's a how-to for adding photos here: http://www.hondapcx.org/viewtopic.php?f=3&t=912

I'll edit it now to include the maximum allowable size.
