Yes it's terrible on hills. When I see one coming I peg it and hope for the best, but it will slow some.

Re: my pcx hates long hills
Even at 155 lbs, it's hard to hold 50 mph on a mile long 9% grade.

Re: my pcx hates long hills
I am at 135, the 125 does fine on hills. When they rate the HP of the bike what weight do Honda think the average rider is? If a rider weighs 90 pounds does it add one HP?
Re: my pcx hates long hills
Uphill into a wind mine wouldn't even manage that, sometimes it would drop to around 40mph.eggman wrote:she will drop down to 50 mph on them maybe I'm to fat at 180 pounds
The Forza is much better, it never drops below 70mph on the same hills.
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

Re: my pcx hates long hills
Engine HP should be irrespective of rider - I believe it's measured at the flywheel or some part of the transmission or maybe just calculated today on PC's before real world measurements (not sure exactly how the PCX HP is rated from, but you have a certain theoretical HP and the more weight and wind resistance, the less performance you get).

Re: my pcx hates long hills
I have found that oncertain I installed the NCY variator on my wife's bike it could do 5 mph more going up a hill than my other bike that only has the weighs changed.
Currently own:

Givi tall windshield & tailbox - Lots of extra lights
Custom seat from Thailand - Bad Boy Airhorn
Takegawa Lowering Shocks - Michelin City Grip Tires

NCY variator, drive face, and rollers

That is one of the reasons why I am getting a Forza instead of a PCX... And we do not even have hills in Miami !!!!eggman wrote:she will drop down to 50 mph on them maybe I'm to fat at 180 pounds
PS 180 Pounds is a pretty average rider weight for the USA.

9%!!! I have a mile long 3.1% grade over a bridge every day and that's enough to hold me to 60 at best, mid 50's if there's a headwind.Lanesplitter wrote:Even at 155 lbs, it's hard to hold 50 mph on a mile long 9% grade.

As Sia says in her song, 'the PCX is great for cheap thrills but not so great on hills'
