Re: scariest thing thaat happened to you on a 2 wheel motorb
Doing 125 mph on my Harley on a back road in West Texas, and blew a back tire. I eased the throttle back and rode the bike off of the road when the road curved. Luckily the side of the road was level with the road and there was nothing but sand and stage brush on each side. It didn't take long for the bike to finally stop, but it was a long walk back to the road, and to the nearest phone. They didn't have cell phones back then.

Leaving a bar at 2 AM and seeing a cop car behind me at a red light.

Mine could also have been put under the heading of dumbest thing I ever did. I think it was pure luck that I lived.

Watching someone in a car pull out right under my nose in a 50mph zone.
Still looking forward to 2017 and getting back to riding.

1968. Three days before shipping out to the Games in sunny S. E. Asia - around midnight - I rode my yellow Norton Commando from San Antonio to Austin and back.
Calculated average speed was 106 for the trip. One refueling. Bike was back in the garage before my young wife knew I'd slipped out of the house.

~1988: around 5 am on a very dark country road: a wild boar ran across the road in front of me and I think I touched it with my front wheel.

I don't believe Austria is considered down under. They say Australia is though.homie wrote:geee wiz... rider offed by bore and then eaten by the rest of the pack, only down underzanggerk wrote:~1988: around 5 am on a very dark country road: a wild boar ran across the road in front of me and I think I touched it with my front wheel.

Shoot, we do that once a week in our subdivision. I am glad that it is getting cold. Those Copperheads seem to have overproducted this year. I walked out of our door to our carport and there was one four feet away just looking at me. Then, after killing it, we got in our car and headed for the entrance to our subdivision only to see a really big one crawling across the road. My wife went out of her way to make sure she ran over it a few times.
