The top racers don't shop for helmets, they get paid to advertise them.
Which is partly why certain branded ones are more expensive than they really should be.
The Sharp ratings speak for themselves, or do you know better...?
Four decades on two wheels has taught me nothing, all advice given is guaranteed to be wrong

I said most racers not top racers. And I've kind of got a gut feeling that Rossi or Marquez wouldn't wear a Walmart helmet even if sponsored.

Unless you know differently.

If you want to go cheap go cheap. If you want to spend a bit more that's fine too.

Sharp, DOT, Gold ACU, etc, all stand for something, and if a helmet (batches of them tested in the 20's to 100's from random bought sources, so not supplied direct and to pass the test) pass the tests with better safety scores than more expensive helmets, you can rely on that. You only pay more for brand and slightly better comfort, although some of the £70-150 ones get great reviews for comfort, features (pin lock and sun visor) and often have better test scores for safety than the £400 ones.

If you crash, a good but reasonalby priced helmet will offer the same or better protection, and lets face it, if you have a bad fall, cheaper of expensive, it's supposed to be binned.

Same with clothing - pay £200 for a jacket or shirt, often no better made (or quality) than one costing a tenth of the price without the brand logo on it.
