Would you replace this air filter?

Post by Nemesis »

Hello everybody.

My PCX 2012 eSP has only 5500km on the tacho. I have open the air filter housing and was supprised that the air filter pretty dirty and oily was... I´ve cleaned it a bit, but would you still replace it?

P.S.
On the filter is written HM KZR TH1. It´s not the actual part number (17210-KZR-600), what is this number???

Thanks

Its supposed to be oily, a new one out the packet is oily.
Your filter is probably good for another 15,000km or more.

How did you get it that clean? I thought it was sticky on purpose and hard to get any bits off.

Thanks for the help :D , I was missing a "reference" of what dirty air filter is. Maybe someone has a photo?
I cleaned it with a good vacuum cleaner, but only from the "dirty"- green side.

Cleaning the air filter is a good idea tbh. Same with car inlet and air conditioning ones. Extendes the service life before replacement.

Cue the pedants and nervous cautioning against it.....

Why not just take a soft brush and give it a good going over?

I thought that didn't work as the filter is sticky - which is why they say to replace and not clean it. Seems you can clean it to a good extent if you are careful.

Even though it is tacky, you should be able to get a lot of loose gunk to fall off. I don't recall the filter being adhesive.
