Re: Riding year-long and can't imagine it being the other wa
Got out for my first ride this year (second since the spill). It was 46 degrees (F), so I decided to ride to some local MC shops to put in resumes. Shoulder was fine for most of the ride, but I was tired toward the end. Still, it was nice to get out.

Okay, I complain about rain, mist and slimy roads
but today it actually got cold enough here for ICE!!
So I slithered the PCX on ice for the first time
I didn't go down, though.
Be careful out there!

I feel for you poor people, sitting here in my polo shirt and shorts, temp expected around 30c (86f) today, blue skies and sunshine. Just back from a beach holiday.
Even our winter temps are fine for riding without rugging up.
I'm really not bragging (much).
Expecting incoming flack

- ah, the land of Aus! I don't like hot muggy climates but can deal with 35-40 deg heat if it's not humid - just need to cover up as I burn rather than tan.JohnL wrote:I feel for you poor people, sitting here in my polo shirt and shorts, temp expected around 30c (86f) today, blue skies and sunshine. Exception would be if there's lots of flying things to deal with - that would be knats and other insects, not talking about bats, vamps or scooters on full throttle

Re: Riding year-long and can't imagine it being the other wa
Been riding every day for nearly 2 years now but this morning was the worse I've suffered from frozen and painful fingers. I had to stop for fuel so the gloves came off for a bit and never recovered after that - I had thin inner fleece gloves inside gore-tex fleece lined gloves - made no difference. They were so bad when I arrived at work I rushed to the sink to soak them in luke-warm water - bad mistake, that made it worse. Only a 9 mile commute and about -2, we've had it worse than this.
Be nice to have some of the Ausralian weather right now

Let's talk in a few months. Actually, in Dallas it seems like we have a week or two in the 80s F and then summer with 3-4 months in the 90s and 100s.JohnL wrote:I feel for you poor people, sitting here in my polo shirt and shorts, temp expected around 30c (86f) today, blue skies and sunshine. iceman, just because "ice" is in yer name doesn't mean you go there man! Gosh you could lose those fingers! Now THAT'S damn frightening to me! Member sendler2112 just linked us to heated glove liners in another post. Did you see them? They might do the trick for ya, or something similar.

They are, I mentioned gloves by accident - no good though.DailyRider wrote:Mittens are better in really cold weather.iceman wrote:Been riding every day for nearly 2 years now but this morning was the worse I've suffered from frozen and painful fingers. Just ordered these two things - the clamp(s) will fix on the bar ends (as I can't get the blighters off) and the guards cover a lot of real estate compared to many. I'll drill a hold in the guard tab and bolt it to the clamps - the other end attaches to the mirror stems.

Thanks WN, we did the traditional after Christmas family thing, we rent a seven bedroom holiday home near Newcastle in Swansea, New South Wales.
We're big on tradition and do the same things every year, including celebrating my birthday at the "Best Thai Restaurant in Town" in Swansea, yep it's the only one
Take care all you winter riders, I don't imagine it's a lot of fun in those conditions.

Blazinby, That looks colder than in my freezer.
Here in Australia I rarely see less than 7 C and that is getting way to cold for.....ideal is around 20 C, happy days
